Addressing invites

I am trying to figure out how to address invites to guests with Children Is it The Jones Family or Mr and Mrs Robert Jones Ms Emily Jones Master John Jones or Mr and Mrs. Rober Jones on the outside envelope and Robert, Carol, Emily and John on the inside envelope (for a personal touch)

This is the way I've been told is correct: Ouside envelope: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones Inside Envelope: Mr. and Mrs. Jones Carol, Emily, John (alphabetically, not by age?) That's the way I've been doing mine.

I've heard of doing Mr. & Mrs. John Doe and Family But I just picked out my invites, so I haven't really thought about it.
