addressing invites with a guest

addressing invites with a guest

Ok I have a question. I only have an outer envelope(no inner), so if I am inviting my friend with her long time bf and I want to include his name instead of 'and guest' do I need to put his last name too???

Would it be:

Ms. Jane Smith and John

Ms. Jane Smith and John Brown

Ms. Jane Smith and Mr. John Brown

????????????????????

and if it is the third one...do their names go next to or under one another???

I know some etiquette says to send a whole another invite to the guest if you know them but im not gonna do that.

Any advice???

TIA!!!

it is supposed to be like this:

Ms. Jane Smith
Mr. John Brown

but, you could also put them on the same line if you don't have space

not sending them out until like beginning to mid March but I have to send them out to the calligrapher soon to get done.

What about you?

That is really, really good to know. I have a lot of friends with long time BFs or GFs, so I would feel awkward addressing them as 'Mr. John Doe + guest' when I know that they're more than a guest.
