Re: Addressing STD's
I posted the same thing a couple weeks ago-- everyone said to do and guest-- since they can 'prep' for being invited with a date.. so, that;s what I did!

Re: Addressing STD's
We just sent it to the person invited. If the 'guest' has a name, we put that. The save the date is for the person who is invited.

Re: Addressing STD's
IMO: I am going to address mine to the person. For those who will be invited with a guest, I am not going to put 'and guest'. The reason I am not going to do this is because I had never heard of STD's until just before getting engaged, and when I talk about doing them (to people NOT on this site), they all seem a little confused. I know the actual STD IS self explanitory, but I want as little confusion as possible. So here is what I am going to do.Say my guest is John Doe and guest.
The STD will say Mr. John Doe. May not even have the Mr. part, to me STD's are not that formal.
Say my guest is a family.
The STD will say either
The Jones Family
OR
Michael and Jane Jones
James and Alice
Parents names on top and kids on 2nd line
I am not sure yet if we are having kids at the wedding, but the above exaple will be done for families that have 'adult' kids (over 16) that will be invited.

Re: Addressing STD's
You might want to leave the 'and guest' part out. Later on down the road your going to be stuck inviting the people with a guest, even though they might not be dating anyone in particular.

Re: Addressing STD's
We didn't use '& guest' on our save the dates. We put the name of the SO's if we knew them and the kid's names. We did end up using '& guest' on some of the invites.

Re: Addressing STD's
we didn't include 'and guest' on the STD envelope... but we did have some people ask if they could have a guest afer they were sent out...

Re: Addressing STD's
I don't think there's a right way or a wrong way -- just whatever way you want. For me, I chose not to put '& guest'. I want the flexibility to decide closer to the wedding who will be invited with a date. I don't want to be locked into inviting an extra person in case financially I decide it's not an option when it's time to send my invites.Welcome New Vendors
