Addressing the invitation...

Is it tacky to print the addresses on the envelopes in a nice script? i did it for my engagement party and it came out really nice. i just cant see spending all that money for people to throw it away.

what do you think??

Thats what i did i heard its only 'tacky' to use the labels ...
although i almsot had a breakdown when printing mine and was 5 min away from using them
(my pic is def. not found in the dictionary next to 'etiqutte')

printing on is all good though

I printed mine and everyone loved them

'tacky' is a rough word...

i don't think its 'tacky' to print on the envelopes... but 'proper etiquette' [whatever that means] says that you shouldn't.

in all honestly, i don't think that it will make a difference to anyone!

personally, i love the look of hand calligraphy and found a not-too-expensive calligrapher, so we're going with that!

we printed on the envelopes for our eparty invites though, and they came out great

Honestly..........I don't ever remember of what ANY envelopes looked like when people sent me a wedding invitation! The envelope will go in the garbage!!!! I don't think that's a bad way to save money!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know if it would be 'tacky'. I am definitely not paying for a calligrapher. I know that people are just like me and will just throw the envelope out! I have to try to find out how to use a program on my computer and print them that way.

I think it's fine to do. I might try to do this or calligraph them myself if it's too expensive to get them done.

technically, they are supposed to be hand calligriphied...(is that a word?? lol), but we printed ours on the computer, and my mom asked who we got to to do the calligraphy...

There are also places that do calligraphy by the computer...which I believe is the same thing as you printing on the envelopes...i say go for printing right on the envelopes.

I don't see anything wrong in writing them out or printing them in a simple script on the computer.
Thats what I'm planning on doing.

Printing on the envelope is fine. There are so many beautiful script fonts out there that look like calligraphy so you have a lot to choose from. Like most have already stated, the envelope goes right in the garbage (and so does the invite for that matter). I say go for it.

There is nothing wrong with printing them. I plan on doing that.

Wait ... so is printing on a label with script considered tacky????

Re: Addressing the invitation...

I had mine printed in beautiful script and it looked amazing......
it can be as much as $5 per envelope to have the calligraphied which is crazy b/c it goes right into the trash.
If you really really have your heart set on doing it, you can go buy a calligraphy book, a pen, and learn it and do it yourself but this is very time consuming (I'm in the process of doing it now for my placecards)
The computer printing can look fabulous if you choose a nice font.
