I don't want to offend anyone, but I don't want children at the reception. I'm probably not even having the children that are in the wedding at the reception.
How do I say this on the reception card without being rude?
Please help!

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
The 2012ers are having this discussion currently too!
i thought we had wrote this on the invite, but i just checked and did not. lol
have to be honest, this was the only thing hubby and i FOUGHT on. big time. we were on the same page originally, booked the hall based on this and then his fam (and im sure mine, but more so his) had a prob. with this, and some were not coming bc of it. then of course...some exceptions were being made and i FREAKED out.
SO- we stuck to adult reception only, and basically didnt write it anywhere, just addressed the envelopes accordingly and spoke and explained to family members. if they had a prob. OWELL. to me, this decision could not be a grey area!

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
My FH & I fought about this at first too. Then one day when were looking at halls there was a wedding going on and kids were just running around everywhere screaming... We looked at each other and he changed his mind!! Plus we have some friends who have a few kids each... I'm sorry but an evening reception is not a place for kids. I was going to stand firm on this one but I'm glad he got on board. So now trying to word the invites without sounding rude. But I've heard stories where people think kids don't get charged so they just don't write it down & show up the day of with their kids. YIKES!!!!

This... I'm also contemplating writing ' ___ [add the number] seats have been reserved in your honor' on the RSVP cards, just so that it's blatantly obvious that I don't want kids there lol

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
I am not going to put anything on the invitation. I am just going to address the envelope to the adults and if they rsvp with their children I am going to call them and explain that their children are not invited. I really don't think that there is a way to go about this without pissing people off.

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
what I did was I filled out the RSVP card with the couples name, and reserved only 2 seats in their name. I didn't have one person say something to me about bringing their children

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
We did not write anything on the invite or response card - we did everything word of mouth. We had conversations with each person/family with children and explained that our 7pm Saturday night event was for adults only. Honestly, it worked out really smoothly...no drama and no kids!
Our flower girls (we had 2) were picked up after the pictures were taken (between the church and the reception).

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
I put Adult Reception to Follow on invites. Even the FG didn't stay for reception, which was perfectly fine with her mom who was my MOH. Said she wanted to have a good time. I didn't want to have to answer 100 phone calls about whether or not people could bring their kids even though the invite was addressed only to them.
My personal opinion though. HTH.

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
just my opinion but i think its going to be hard to tell the parents of the children in the ceremony that they cant bring their kids to the reception, especially since they just walked in your service.
im with you 100% i hate seeing super hyper kids running around a reception but i think you kinda locked yourself into atleast having the kids that are attendants at the reception.
for everyone else i would just put Mr. and Mrs. on the invite and if they rsvp with more than 2 call them and tell them then thats its an adults only. this is what i plan on doing

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
Definitely address the invitiations to just the parents and I would say spread the word to your family and friends about the no kid rule.
I would invite the little kids in my BP though to the party. We are having a ringbearer and I plan on having someone from his family (not my side), come to the wedding so she can stay with him after the ceremony or cocktail hour if he is getting tired or so she can take him home, whichever he/the parents prefer.

Omg that's so crazy! I could never imagine just showing up w/ my kids to someone's wedding unless they were invited! Some people got some big you know what's!!!

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
FH and I decided to just have kids in the family come. Because if they are in the wedding, it's kind of rude to say they can't come to the reception. You'd probably have to say something on the wedding invitation though.

Just to clarify....I did not tell them they couldn't bring their kids. We had a discussion on what they would prefer to do. It was up to them. They decided they would rather enjoy the evening rather than run after their children.

Re: ADULT ONLY RECEPTION
We're having limited children at our reception. We have a 15month old son & only allowed a totally of 8 children under the age of 10 including my son. We're having my neices & first cousins only!!
