how old is the oldest? im not having kids, for the fact that my list would double in size and i feel bad bc some of them i want there but im having an 18 and older list. i cant start picking and choosing and leaving people out. i would try and find an age group and stick with that. hope that helps

Re: adult only reception issue
hmm that's a tough one ... if you only have about 3 'extra' kids, then i think i'd just deal with it ... if there are a lot more than that, then i'd put in the no-kids rule ... you have to be happy on your day, but you also have to make sure that there's as little drama as possible

It's really up to you. We made the cutoff our 13 year old cousins who were our JBM. No one was younger than them.

Re: adult only reception issue
We are not inviting anyone under 14 years old. This divides 2 or 3 families and we have spoken to them and they are fine with their youngest child not being invited.

Is there a way you can say what relation they are to you and cut it off there? Like I have a lot of young cousins, most of whom are involved in the wedding but they are my first cousins. FH has a lot of young second cousins, so we're just saying that first cousins can come but second can't. Does that make sense?

Re: adult only reception issue
i wish i can give you some advice but i am dealing with this exact same issue, and i warn you, it is NOT FUN. FH thinks its ok to have only his cousins from CA come, bc they are from out of town... but no one else. im more of its black or white, kids or no kids... his mother already mentioned to her family that they coud come though!!
i also wanted no kids, (so did he lol) it would literally add 20 more ppl to my parents list. Im thinking you have to be strong, it is your day. i plan on talking to FH parents and tell them how i feel... hopefully that will go smoothly.... but a huge deal with us! wish you luck!

Re: adult only reception issue
I'm only having my immediate cousins (6 of them) and my FH cousin's 2 children. Thats it. My venue charges the same amount for children as they do for the adults per plate, so that's how we're going to cut costs. If it's only going to be a few children, then it wouldn't hurt to keep the peace.

Re: adult only reception issue
I was pretty much set on the whole NO kids at my wedding thing, but after some issues (nothing major) some kids did end up being invited and coming. And honestly, it was not a big deal at all. I feel like as long as it isn't like 10 little kids running around, you won't even notice they are there...unless they are cute on the dance floor with you. In the end, I am glad I just ****** it up and had the kids there because it made everyone happy and totally didn't bother us the day of.
Good luck with your decision though!

Re: adult only reception issue
Thank you all for your advice, I will keep you posted on what we decide. Its so hard bc we are going to be paying for about 10 kids and 8 are going to be full price. its kind of mean to say but i know that their plates are not going to be covered by their parents in our gift and I am out of work and we are trying to save for a house so its a matter of $ we dont have to spend. I know it sounds horrible and Im sorry. I will have to take this down in a little just in case their are lurkers Thanks again ladies!!

Re: adult only reception issue
you should check with your RH ... 6 kids meals are included for free with mine ... and any extra kids are 1/2 price.
