i'm not having kids. my ring bearer is the only child in the wedding and he's going home after the ceremony (i wouldn't care if he stayed but my brother and SIL want to party!)
i loooooove kids but i work with them all day, and an evening wedding is no place for kids....
i'd reconsider if i was having a day wedding tho :)

Re: Adult reception no kids
I'm going to have to agree. Weddings are not a place for young children. I have a few of my cousins coming but they're older (10, 11, and 12) so at tha age they can behave themselves. Other than our FGs, no little children will be there.

The only kid who is going to be at the wedding is my son. That's it. I don't want kids taking over the dance floor!

No little kids .... I absolutely agree. I rememner when I was like 10 and my cousine was about 2 and we were at the reception for my aunt's wedding and my cousin stuck her little two year old hand in the cake before it was cut, I just don't think it should be that way. I am allowing 2 ten year olds and everyone else is 17 or better and knows how to behave in public.

We're not inviting kids - the youngest will be my 16 yr old cousin.
Both FH and I have cousins with younger kids (4-10) and after first I thought it wouldnt be bad, but then I was at a wedding recently where the kids were NUTS. They were running around the dance floor, taking flowers out of their centerpiece... it was crazy.
I'm not sure if we should write 'Adult Reception' on the invite though...

I would, just to get the point out there and so theres no confusion.
We had kids at our reception though and thankfully they were really well behaved. But we also had them since it was the Saturday before easter..so we didnt want to take the kids from their parents the night before 'the easter bunny stops by' lol

FYI I TOTALLY AGREE! We had only the children in wedding party (which were 2 of them my sisters children). Italians seem to think that the enitre family should be invited which includes all children. Well i dont thinkits cute to have sticky fingers stuck in my cake & kids running around a dance floor. I feel its an adult venue & children should nto be there. We stuck with a strict 16 or older guest list.

I couldnt agree more. We are having an adult only reception - with the exception of a jr bm who is 11...that is the youngest. Then everyone else invited is 17 or above. We are dealing with a TON of drama over this from family members....and it totally s*cks.

hell to the no!! the only kids at mine are my FGs which are our goddaughters, my 8yo niece whos a Jr BM, FHs 8yo cousin who's a ring bearer, then a 14yo who's a Jr BM. And that's it!!
ooooh wait, our Best Man just had a baby and one of our FGs is his daughter, so the baby will come too, but along with mom, dad, and grandma. So it will be under control!

We are having children at our wedding but a select few. I am a Mom and I understand the idea of no kids at the wedding but on the other side of it there are some little people I want there to share in our day!

Personally, I don't like it when kids aren't invited. Not only do I love kids, but I think it's a little disrespectful to say 'Hey, come to my wedding, spend lots of money, get me a gift and leave your rugrat at home! Thanks!' I think it's particularly wrong to do so to OOT guests.

ITA!!! And besides, if I were to say no kids then literally... every single one of my aunts would not be able to come because they each have anywhere from 2-4 kids all under the age of 10... Sigh... I guess I'm in for a rough night on the dance floor huh? :P
