Kamille-tell your FH to throw something...he needs to get over it.
You need to stop the parents from telling everyone. Maybe tell them your vision for the wedding is not 500 people? Start there..
Parents can get funky. It sounds like you thought maybe they would snap out of their stupor when you got engaged. I'm sorry hon..I'm really sorry...you have to decide whether or not you want to ask them to participate in things. Keep in mind, they may not. Think about how you will feel about it before you do it.

ha, me too.
Besides, the poor thing will be just devasted if we don't... it's so built up in his mind! (despite the fact that it's definitely not going to be the first time...)

Re: Advice
How do you avoid hurting somebody's feelings who has assumed they will be a bridesmaid and won't be? Somebody with potential jealousy issues?
(to give background: I've been friends with this girl since high school, but by the end of college we really only spoke to each other when we were home for vacation. Now, she's moved to England to 'find herself' or some crap, and I occasionally exchange emails with her. I've grown apart from her, and I'm really not sure how much we have in common anymore. I have another friend who I've known for less time but who is always ALWAYS there for me, who is definitely (already acknowledged) my MOH. other than her, I just want my sister and brother. I want to keep it small, and I believe that to be in the bridal party, you need to be somebody who is really there for me. But I don't want to burn bridges with the other friend, because she's a nice girl, and I don't want to hurt her, but she's grown in a direction I don't really like, and I don't feel we're close enough anymore for her to be a bridesmaid. And she has jealousy issues, and doesn't seem to get that we're not as close as we used to be...)
ug. it's complicated. Anyway... any words of advice?
