I am in a bit of a dilemma and would love some outside feedback on my situation.
So I posted on here a few weeks ago that I left my job because I had another job offer... but because of Citibank's layoff, I was out of a job. So for the last few weeks I've been on the hunt for a new job. I was looking for something outside of the mortgage/real estate industry and perhaps start over again. I went on interviews and just haven't had any luck.
After being at the Bridal Extravaganza... it got me a little nervous. As excited as I was to plan my wedding for May of 2009, I felt like I wasn't able to really go forward with planning and booking vendors because I am not working and right now the FH is really supporting us. Which he has totally been 100% amazing but I've always been the type of person that likes to contribute instead of being taking care of ya know? Well... I thought the best thing for me to do is to call my old boss and see if they would take me back. The reason I left was because of the money and because I didn't like the way they treated me. But I feel like in my situation, I really need the money and benefits. So - here's my dilemma. Do I keep on looking for a job because eventually I feel like I will find one (who knows how long it will take though). OR Do I just put all my frustration for my previous job aside and just go back there and make the same yucky salary and possibly be treated like poopie again? I feel like the right thing to do for right now is go back... but something inside me is fighting it. I feel like I keep coming up with new reasons why I shouldn't. What would you do if you were in my situation?
Sorry so long - but thank you for getting this far seriously. I really value your opinions, they're always so helpful

Re: Advice...
Honestly, I would stand on principal and not go back to a job where i was not paid what i should be and treated badly. Keep looking, spirits up and you will find something.
You will most likely be upset and miserable every day. Good to get out of the negative situation, try and remain positive and find something where at least the atmosphere is better
you will be happier in the long run

I would stick it out as long as you can. I am sure something will come along. If you go back to other job would they still treat you the same or worse?? I hope you find something soon.

Re: Advice...
Since I have been laid off now for 3 months and have been looking for a job I know where you are coming from. Its hard finding a new job that isn't a scam. I went on a few interviews that gave me a weird feeling that I was so mad I even went on them!
Anyway I think taking your old job might be for the best. The economy is just so bad right now and not much out there. I would still apply for jobs that won't hurt, but as long as you have a job that is very important.
I should be starting a new job within the next 2 weeks but its been a while since I have been working.

Hard call. On one hand you need to make money on the other going back to job u kinda hate! U need to be happy where you work. Its important. The reason u dont want to & dreading it is because your not happy there. So i say take another job any job, to make some money & go on interviews in between. Maybe you shouldnt go back to your previous it may be worse because you need them & they know it! Good luck i hope it works out. Im not sure what kind of job u r looking for but maybe you can post something on here to fin dout if people have connections.

Personally I would not go back to my old job. I would wait it out and know that eventually something will come up. You had some pretty stong reasons for leaving in the first place. As long as FH is supporting your decision to keep looking I say keep looking. In the long run you will be much happier.

Re: Advice...
keep your head up - you dont want to be miserable with your job - you are going to spend a majority of your day there for a majority of the week. I am so sure that you will find something better - whatever is meant to be will be - think positive and things will work out.

Re: Advice...
even if they give you your job back dont u think that you will be treated even worse for leaving and then coming back.
what type of job are you looking for? maybe i can help.
i personally think it would be a bad move to go back...u left for a reason so y go back to it...you said FH is supportive so just hang in there a little bit and i am sure you will find something.

Re: Advice...
I know exactly how you feel! I WANT to leave my job so badly but I won't for the very same fear of having to deal with what you are going through now.
I don't think I could ever go back to somewhere I quit from especially if the reason was b.c I was treated poorly. It stinks . . . But you know what, if FH can support you then maybe you should just wait it out. You can always get a job somewhere like part-time or temporary to make a little money until you find another 'real' job. I mean places like CVS or supermarkets are always looking for people that end up being temporary.
Good Luck - let us know how it all works out!

I wouldn't go back to your old job. They might be mad that you quit and end up treating you even worse.
Have you tried going to temp agencies? That is how I got my current position. They are great because you can try out a few places without committing at first. And then if you find a place you like, you can become permanent in a few months.
Also, post your resume on careerbuilder.com and check out craigslist. Don't worry, you will find something. Good luck!!!!

I wouldn't go back to the old job. It sounds like you were miserable and I imagine you will be even more miserable going back there. Try to be patient and keep up the job search. You deserve a job you like where people respect you.

I don't think you should go back. They probably already found someone else. If they didn't, I have a feeling that they will treat you even worse. I agree w. the others advice. Keep your head up, it's just a matter of time before you find another position. If money is an issue, and you really need it, maybe you can get a temporary job for now? Don't feel bad, last year it took FH a month before he got an offer he liked. The companies were giving him like 3 interviews. It was really annoying, but I guess that's just the way it is now. Have you tried Craigslist?

Re: Advice...
You left that miserable job for a reason....don't go back there I'm out of a job right now, I'm dieing to find a permanent full time teaching position in a high school but I'm not having any luck, I sent out my resume to so many schools and finally one school has called me to substitute teach whenever they need me, it's better than nothing.
I know how you feel trust me, i'm going through the same thing, it's very discouraging and I feel crappy most of the time, but I look at it this way....my time will come, something will eventually open up, just try to network and send out your resume and set up as many interviews as possible -- going back to your old job won't make you feel any better.
I hope everything works out for you!!

Re: Advice...
First off, FM me. FH just became a recruiting and might be able to help you find a job. I can give you his email address so you can send your resume to him.
Secondly, you will find a job. It might take some time, but you will find one. You don't want to go back to someplace that you were miserable. So keep trying, you will find a better fit!
In the meantime, see if you can apply for unemployment since you were technically laid off. If not, getting a part time job for 15-20 hours a week is better than nothing. And even if it's not the most glamorous (like being a waitress or working at a supermarket), it will bring in at least some cash and get you out of the house so you won't wallow too much.
