Advice about wine favors

Original post by Angel120905

Sorry this is so long!

I bought wine for my favors and the plan was to remove the original front label and replace it with our personalized label since the personalized labels are so thin that you would see the original label through it. We wanted to keep the back label on the bottle so people would know what type of wine it is.

Here is my problem I bought a bottle of goo gone and tried to remove the front label the whole process was a big mess. The label didn't come completely off and the oily label remover got all over the back label. I saw a video online from the company I ordered the labels from and they said to soak the bottles in warm water with oxyclean and the label will peel right off. This would mean the back label would come off too.

My mom thinks that the back label needs to stay on otherwise people may not know what is in the bottle and have an 'allergic' reaction. I feel like its a wine bottle in a wine bag and you can see its white wine.

What do you think?

I did wine favors too and I stuck my personalized labels on top of both original front & back labels. I didn't bother peeling them off. ppl will drink it no matter what, lol

I bought some oxyclean over the weekend and I am going to try to do a trial run tonight.

The oxyclean in warm water works like a charm!

The video said to let them soak for 45 minutes. I took the bottles out the sticker came off in one piece and I just wiped them down with a scruber sponge to get any stray glue (which came right off) and rinsed them.

I didn't try any of the wine to see if the taste was different b/c the bottles did not feel warm when I took them out. I made the water just warm not hot at all straight from the tap. I even soaked bottles in the 'used' solution that was luke warm and it still works.
