Advice... Birthdays near wedding

Original post by sarahradio5

Okay... my FH's b-day is 5 days after we get married (we'll be in Disney!). His sister's b-day is 2 days BEFORE we get married. Do we acknowledge any of this? I can definitely see acknowledging his, but do I have to say something about his sister? My FH HATES having attention on him (he couldn't even EAT at our e-party... I'm hoping he's okay at our wedding). I may get a Yankee Stadium grooms' cake made for him as a birthday surprise with his favorite filling (chocolate and peanut butter). Should they write 'Happy B-day?' Should the DJ say something? Should we all sing? What do you think?

My birthday is a week before and FH's is about 2 weeks before. We haven't discussed acknowledging it yet - but I think we may just do cake with the family....no gifts are really necessary this year.

her's is before the wedding--acknowledge it then with a card and gift like normal... you dont have to say anything about her at the wedding.
for him, the cake sounds like a good idea but since you said he doesn't like attention on him maybe not?? i can't even imagine that because my FH LOVES attention!

he hates pictures and hates attention. our wedding day will be fun. lol! I think I may just write Happy Birthday at least on his Groom's Cake, and maybe I'll ask the DJ to play Happy Birthday. Maybe we'll put an extra birthday gift in my FSIL's bag, and sing happy birthday at the rehearsal dinner, which will be the night before! That sounds like a good idea! It's her 25th, so I feel bad she won't be able to use any day that weekend to celebrate.

I think that singing happy B-day to your FSIl at the rehearsal dinner is really sweet.

My FH is the same way, his B-Day is six days before our wedding. He did not like all of the attention we were getting during our e-party too. When one of my sister's were married, my mom's birthday was on the same day of the wedding. We all sang happy birthday to her, it was nice.

Its up to you to decide what you want.

My FH's birthday is also 5 days after the wedding. I'm getting the groom's cake for the RD and putting candles in it and we'll sing happy birthday. We believe our wedding day is for the wedding only.

My DH's b-day was 5 days after the weddin too, and we didn't do anything. It's a wedding, not a birthday party..........

I think you can do it for FH and not his sister - he's the groom!!!

Mine and FH share a bday and our bday is our wedding day so I'm sure someone will have the band sing Happy Birthday for us - I think you should do the same for your FH.

That is the cutest thing!!!
i definately think that in your case singing Happy Birthday is sooooo appropriate!!!!

My FH birthday is the day before our wedding.
We are not going to have the dj do something, but i am throwing him a surprise party 2 weeks before so his birthday does not get lost.
