Advice for a shower. Opinions please!!!

Advice for a shower. Opinions please!!!

A girlfriend of mine is getting married in Canada. Her family is from OOT and so is her MOH sister. No one is throwing her a shower.

I thought it would be nice to have some girls get together in NYC where we live to take her out to brunch.

How can I word the evite so that it doesn't imply that I'm paying for it. I just felt bad that NO one is throwing her a shower or a party.....

Thanks!!

You are too sweet!!!

but ugh, that's a tough one....hmm, any way you could spread it word of mouth first to your girlfriends so they knew the deal and then send the invite just so you get an accurate count?

Aww, thanks. I just feel bad because I would feel so sad that no one could celebrate with me.

The thing is, I only know ONE of her friends.... So I can't do a 'word of mouth' type of thing....

Maybe you should send an email instead of doing an evite, & just say i think it would be nice of us to get together and take 'jen' out for a bridal shower brunch. i guess an evite seems like a party which the guests wouldnt pay for, but if you say 'we' should take her out then they shouldnt misconstrue it as you are paying.

Yea thats what I would suggest & then if you know the price- I would put that too. Its so nice that you are setting that up for your friend!

I like this! Are you including her registry information in the evite?

That is really nice of you to do this!!!!

Maybe find a place that will give you a fixed price menu, and then you can put something like $25 per person on the evite

I would feel bad too, so it's so good that you knew about it and are able to throw something together for her. I was just talking to one of DH's friend's wives the other day (I've recently become friendlier with her), anyway, they got married a little before us and she just told me that no one threw her a bachelorette party. I couldn't believe it, I was like, ugh, if I only knew I would have done something for her, I don't know any of her friends but I at least would have taken her out for drink or something.

It really stinks when people don't have anyone around them to do that stuff....

Thank you! Should I include something like
'if you want to get ____ a little something, she is registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond.'
or is that rude?

Yes, I totally feel bad. Especially since we are getting married around the same time and though I don't know the details of my shower, I know my SIL and cousin are doing a great job... My friend invited to my shower and she is driving from NH at 6 am to make it to my shower on LI....

The place I was thinking of doesn't have a price fix but maybe I can include what the cost of a high tea is? It's about 22 dollars per person...

I would put that! She will lovvvve getting presents!!! Or you know what you can do....after you send the evite out....there is an option where you can 'email all the invitees' you can send them all a note and say you were going to get her something from where she is registered. Or I dont know if you want to do that but just an option.

Ok new idea just put it in the evite 'If you wish to honor the bride-to-be with a gift, she is registered at ___'

I would shoot an email out to the people you think should be present and say ___ will be here and I think we should all get together and go out for brunch .

Re: Advice for a shower. Opinions please!!!

Maybe I'll do something like this

'Let's get together and take _____ out for brunch before her big day!!!

Alice's Teacup is a very cute tea house on the Upper East Side where we can get a high tea brunch for $22.00...

If you wish to bring the bride to be a little token, she is registered at Bed Bath and Beyond.
Hope to see you there!!

Re: Advice for a shower. Opinions please!!!

Ok here's my latest draft. I would LOVE opinions please!!!!

Let's get together and take Mary out for brunch before her big day!

Alice's Teacup is quaint tea room on the Upper East Side that serves a delicious high tea that includes everything for $25 or you can also order great brunch from the menu as well!

If you wish to bring a token for the 'bride to be' she is registered at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Hope to see you there!

Re: Advice for a shower. Opinions please!!!

Do you need to make a reservation?. if so then ask for an RSVP... write something like:

for reservation purposes - please let me know if you will be participating or not and I will handle the reservations at Alice's Teacup.

I would say 'participate' and not 'attend' b/c attend sounds like they are invited guests.. not hosts.. as you will all be hosts.
