advice for newbies?

advice for newbies?

The LIW pet peeve page made me paranoid - any advice for newbies on the board? What to do/what not to do?

I want to thank everyone for the advice and support so far. This is my first time on a board and it has been great.

Wow - you are so smart to do this. Thanks! I agree with your entire post. And a helpful suggestions list from the non-newbies would be great. I don't think we can avoid all drama, but maybe this will help!

How funny if you and I end up as the only 2 posting here.

The boards are supposed to be fun. Most of the time on the 05 it is.

We all will not like the same 'dress' but we can give constructive opinions WITHOUT insults.

Otherwise, just have fun

You are such a cutie.

The only thing I would suggest - the search feature is incredible. If you have a question about a specific vendor - maybe 'high voltage sounds', do a search before posting, and then make a post based on the information you obtained in the search. (Why does Vinny only charge 600 for four hours?' Can be your post instead of 'Who is high Voltage Sounds?') There are so many reviews from past brides on here - it's a great way to get tons of info on a vendor right away.

Don't take anything too personally - it's a chat board, it's a computer, it's a forum, and it's fun!

Hi!
Just wanted to say hello to you. And posting a question asking for vendor suggestions was not annoying at all. I will try to be more helpful as well. So ask me any questions

Good point LP! 'Constructive' is key.

Or if I really don't like someones makeup and don't have anything constructive to say, I won't write anything. I think lying is lame...

bunny you have a point, I think there is nothing more annoying than someone starting a thread that we had already, like lets post our dresses etc... search option is good like that, you can find a lot of info from past brides...

It's actually all the intials of my name, first, middle, and a hyphenated last name. My mom kept her maiden name and hyphenated me and my sibling's last name.

Try not to take things too personally- like I have done several of the things on the Pet Peeve thread. But I don't worry that anyone is angry at me- you can't please everyone. And I don't think it was meant in a mean way- just a funny one.

If I haven't said so already, WELCOME!

Thanks! I really like the ladies on the 05 board. You guys give great advice - don't know what I would do without you! And us newbies appreciate the advice. Sometimes, I guess, we don't know about the old threads, so please let us know if answers to our questions exist!

Any more suggestions????

i agree with what everyone else said... and the biggest thing to remember is to Not take anything personally!!!! like i think the pet peeve board wasnt meant to make people insecure,,, just for people to kid around about the things that get to them. i dont think any of you should change who/ how you are or worry about people getting annoyed at you. most of us here are pretty new too, we just spend laot of time on the boards.

Awww, i don't hate you!

I agree with the ladies above... Unfortunatly with a chat board like this it's often easy to misiturpret the 'voice' behind somone's post... so try not to take some things too seriously...

But mainly, just have fun! This is a great place to get advice on vendors, ideas for dresses/favors etc. As well as a fun place to unwind and just get silly!
