Advice from an 08er

DO NOT REGISTER until as close to your wedding as possible.

I registered in September which was 10 months before my wedding. I do not know when my shower is but I know invites are being sent out next week.

I went to look at my registry to make sure I didn't forget anything and sooooo much stuff was either discontinued or out of stock or I had changed my mind about it.

Don't make yourself go crazy with your registry right before your shower like I did, wait till it is closer so you won't need to change so many things.

Happy Planning, 09 is only 10 months away

I registered earlier, I update it whenever I feel necessary.

I registered for my e-party and every month I go on to check and if things were no longer available I just delete it and add more things.... so you can manage it if you do register early.

Yes, you can definetly manage but the point was that it is annoying having to change so many things and when it gets close to your shower and you are under a deadline you have to make all your changes pretty quick and your taste may change when new things come out. I was just trying to prevent you girls from being under the gun like I was

I agree with parts of the original post, but disagree overall. We registered for our e-party which was 1 year before our wedding and got most of those things as e-gifts.

Yes, some things were discontinued (even in the month before our party -- Crate & Barrel changes stock seasonally) but we were very glad we registered. We need to go back and update/add to our registry now that my shower is probably close, but you can absolutely register if you are having an e-party.

If you register at a place like BBB, their stock rarely changes. Other stores (like Crate & Barrel) change stock more often and clear house seasonally but if you find something you love now, put it on!

I do agree that if you don't have an e-party it might be best to wait a little while but by all means register for your e-party! I'd suggest registering for the stuff you want most, and not doing a 'full' registry unless you are going to have a lot of guests
