Advice from an Old Married Lady

Advice from an Old Married Lady

I have been a member of these boards for almost 2 years and I feel both the people I have met on here, the friends that I have made and the information I absorbed truly helped me to plan the wedding of my dreams.

I came here to ask questions, some intelligent some a little manic (hey, we all get crazy). 'Do you like my STD?' 'what do you think of my song list?' 'My MIL wants to carry a live canary during cocktail hour'

The one thing that is important is that when you see a question posted on here, do not be so quick to ATTACK the poster. If a bride wants to have her bridesmaids wear pants to her wedding and is posting pic of the two outfits she cannot decide on

THAT IS NOT A FORUM TO CAST YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE PANTS.

I see way to many people getting flamed lately and it upsets me bc this is not what this site is about. Like I say to all of my friends who are now planning their own weddings. If you want orange and purple polka dots, go for it!!!!! It's you day.

Just be nicer to everyone on here. For me, I came on here to vent about my crazy family during the process. All of my 06 gals would always support me, never yell at me for some idea I was thinking. And when they provided me with opinions, they did it in a way that wasn't criticizing. It was nice, and I appreciated the advice.

That's all. Just some advice from an old married lady.

thats great advice, Nancy.

i am not sure what happened, but to add to your sentiments:

its very important to remember that everyone has different styles and tastes that may be very different from their own. If you hate something that someone else is doing, you should keep it to yourself because what if someone told YOU they hated your ideas?

I agree. I only had one huge fight last week, but it was a huge thing, by a comment I worded incorrectly and should have more careful wording it and such but I got attacked very badly! And this never happened to me be4!

I agree with you 100%

You go girl! I agree that we all should be nice and support one another. Most of us, rely on these boards because these girls are the only one who understands us. When the DRAMA happens, it is important to remind ourselves that people are people. Not everyone is going to be so nice on these boards. So respect them and if they don't respect you then their loss. We all move on! Nice post. I give you a lot of RESPECT!

on that note, BMs wearing pants sounds like a freaking cool idea. I would have never thought of it, but it would be so original and very cute.

I realize that was not the purpose of your message and agree completely with what youre saying. We all deal with enough b*tchiness and opinionated people in our lives (especially when planning a wedding) that we dont need to hear it on here too.

Well said, Nancy!!! You're absolutely right, if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all. It's only ok to give your opinion when someone ASKS you for it, and it should be constructive criticisms. Saying 'that's tacky' isn't helpful.
