Advice from School Social Workers Please

Hi,

I am in the fashion industry and I hate it, I was thinking of going into school counseling but have heard it is very difficult to get a job, especially from the girls on LI weddings. Does anyone have any input on becoming a school social worker instead? Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks

hey, i don't work in a school, but I am in graduate school for SW right now. first, it requires a masters degree and the you would need to become licensed within a certain amount of time. i heard that it's hard to get into the school system but once you're in, it's a good career. hope this helps!

I have my MSW....you need your CSW to work in a school. Basically, you get your MSW, take your licensure exam and get your LMSW and then three years of supervision and you can then take your LCSW exam...then you can be in a school...

if you can find a job....

Trust me, it's NOT easy on LI...tougher than teachers bc there are normally only 1 or 2 SW's/school....

good luck though!
