Advice Needed - its long (sorry)

Re: Advice Needed - its long (sorry)

Why not just write to her something like this:

I just wanted to clear up some confusion on your RSVP. I have you down for two seats, one for you, and one for (the name she gave you). Just wanted to make sure that was correct. We can't wait to share our day with you and your fiance.

I am sure that she only means to bring her fiance, and that her wording was just a little vague. Don't worry so much, I am sure that's what she meant and she won't be offended for you to clear it up!

She doesn't want to bring two people -- she just wants to bring her fiance. She just forgot to put his name on the online form when she clicked the RSVP there and was sending you the message to make sure you had his name.

Don't read her two messages as separate messages -- they're really the same message, typed twice. So when she says 'my fiance will go with me as well' she meant that to mean her guest is her fiance.

I am with the others - I am sure she just means her and her fiancee. Maybe she meant to type 'him' instead of 'them'?

Maybe you guys are right. I think I may be reading more into it than is needed. Its just that everyone jokes that all her life she brings her mom everywhere she goes. And a lot of people told me they thought she´d bring her mom instead of her fiancee to the wedding. So that made me think that she is wanting to bring her mom and her fiancee. Then again, I don´t really know her that well so maybe this is all just exaggeration on their part.

Well, you didn't say this before. It makes a difference.

If you think she's considering bringing her mom, write her back this:

'I got your RSVP and we're looking forward to seeing you and (INSERT NAME OF MAN) on our wedding day!'

Then she'll write back again if she thinks she's bringing another person and then you can clear it up. I just wouldn't be presumptive in my first email to her.

I would write her back and say, 'I'm glad we know his name now, I'm really sorry we had to put 'and guest' on the invitation because we really wanted to invite him personally.' Something a little more finessed, but to that effect I think would clear it up for you without sounding presumptive.

I see the ambiguity, I would want the peace of mind of knowing exactly what she's thinking as well. Good luck.

i think if she were planning on bringing two people she would have given both names... not just her fiances name. its probably just a poor word choice.

she is just coming with her fiance. It sounds like she was sending you a separate message to politely let you know his name (finally!).

i see why you are worried - but i do think she is only bringing him.

Just clarify with option 1 and you will be fine. No reason to go ahead and jump to conclusions if that is not necessary. If she replies with two guests, THEN you can say something...
