So I went to the jt showcase tonight and I love jt. I guess I'm a little down because I thought I would get a better price then what I did. They said if there was an issue they would try and work with us. So ladies I need your help. How were you able to get halls to come down on their pricing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Advice needed on pricing
By the time I was ready to choose, I just mentioned directly the other place I was considering and what they were offering in exchange.
My RH was able to work with what I needed to feel comfortable.

The easiest way to negotiate is to have another venue which is similar to them with a lower quote. You may want to go to some other place such as Woodbury Country Club and Crest Hollow and get pricing from them. Use that to get what you need from Jerricho Terrace.
I got really good prices at Crest Hollow so maybe start there.

be honest...say we are deciding between you and X.... X gave us all this for this price, can you match it??

Re: Advice needed on pricing
Thanks guys I will definitely look into other places and get some prices hopefully this will help with the negotiating.
Annabellagirl I'll fm you.
Im aiming for a winter wedding I was just thinking it would be at least 5-10 dollars less then what I was quoted. On top if that I would want the venetian hour but doesn't look like that would be happening.

Re: Advice needed on pricing
If you start to compare prices and what not I would add in to JT when you go that so and so place is willing to throw in VH for a lower price.
When we went to negotiate FH and I 'chose' which of the 2 places we liked better and took that ground when we went in. It helped our cause and each banquet manager of the 2 places wanted to make us both happy and bring us on the same page, although we already were..:)

Re: Advice needed on pricing
just be honest and tell them 'i need to be at x price' then start negotiating from that point. If you tell a vendor what you specifically want, then they will try to come within the price range.

Re: Advice needed on pricing
A few ideas...I don't know how true it is but my RH told me that the farther out the date is the less they budge on the price because there is more of a chance they will book it. If you are looking for 11/2012 thats almost 2 years out! Also, Jan and Feb are also much slower so they are usually more generous in those months. FH was dead set against a Thu, Fri or Sun but those are options to get the price lower, too. We picked the end of March and came in WAY less than someone I know getting married in April at the same place. I would try and again be flexible on the month or maybe even the minimum guaranteed.
I simply just asked! If you really like it and want to book, just say 'I really love it here! If I was to book right now, what can you do for on the price'. If it's not where you want to be, then walk away. You don't have to sign if you still think it's too high! Or you could always change to a Friday or Sunday?!
