So I need opinions, I've always preferred a Saturday evening wedding, I still would, however I'm more flexible on the day than I am the time of year. The fiancee and I have been to several venues, all of them not working out for one reason or another ( I am overly picky, we do not want to go too far out onto LI, carpeting, etc ) however, I am aware of this and know what I'm dealing with, and have areas I'm willing to compromise on. That said, I did really like one venue, however Friday evening would be our only option as our guest list isn't large enough to meet the minimum needed for a September Saturday. My fiancee is having a really hard time coming around to the idea of a Friday wedding. I ideally picked the Friday of Labor Day weekend, figuring most people leave work early, or take off, and on a Friday we can start the ceremony whatever time we'd like so we can do it a little later, and people will still have a three day weekend. Any advice, good points I can bring up to him to help him soften up to the idea? Like I said, I would prefer a Saturday myself, but would rather get married at a place I really like than settle on location just to have it on a Saturday. I'm not sure what to do next if we have to start looking at venues again. Sorry to ramble! Thanks girls!

Re: Advice needed on wedding day
We chose Friday because on Saturday there would've been a day party and we'd only be able to take pictures for about 45 minutes before. We are doing our ceremony at our venue and wanted to do the first look + all formal pictures and still enjoy our cocktail hour. Friday gives you much more freedom! Plus, it's very widely acceptable now and most people will just take off of work.

Re: Advice needed on wedding day
We had the same problem about not being able to meet the minimums for a Saturday night and it being too expensive. We considered Friday but decided to go with Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Most jobs have off Monday and we have a lot of people traveling. It would have been too hard to have everyone travel on Friday to get there on time without taking off of work. Since it's Sunday they can either travel earlier Sunday or on Saturday without having to take off.
