Advice on Astoria

I have an interview Wed morning at 31-07 20th Road.

I know nothing about Astoria? How is the area? Is it safe? Excuse my ignorance, I am from Westchester.

Parts of it are nicer than others. I've never been to that exact area but I have a few friends and family members that live in Astoria.

ETA: It's convenient for traveling. There are a few different trains/buses that go through Astoria. But that's also one of the downsides- the above ground train trestles there.

Re: Advice on Astoria

FH has been working in Astoria for more than 10 years. He says that the area is kinda ehh because it's by the projects BUT it's up and coming, it's gotten better over the years.

A few perks are yes, the transportation and the FOOOOOD! You can have almost any kind of food you can think of! I've been working here about 5 years now and I can't get enough (of the food that is! lol)!

Astoria is great. FH and I just moved in and I grew up here. The area where your interview is is not shady at all. The area is slightly more industrial (because you are one block from Con-Ed) but There are a ton of houses right on 20th road. In fact it is only about 3 blocks from the N train.

While another poster said that Astoria is 'up and coming' this area of Astoria has arrived.

Good luck on the interview and welcome to Astoria.
