advice on the 'and guest'

advice on the 'and guest'

Combined FH and I have about 15 friends we are inviting to the wedding who are not in relationships with anyone. Do you think we are required to invite them with a guest. I don't want to sound cheap and I told my girlfriends early on that unless they are in a serious relationship they wouldn't be invited with a +1.

Is that wrong? I mean they would be a lot of extra money on people I proably don't even know..

Obviously you can choose to do whatever you want, but I'm inviting everyone with a guest. Except for my FH cousins who are 18. If they aren't in a relationship then they're just getting invited by themselves.

I don't think that's wrong at all. FH and I are doing the same thing - only people in serious relationships get the +1. People have to understand that every person invited to the wedding is more money. Yeah, I'm sure some people won't be happy but you have to do what you can afford.

It's definitely not wrong at all. I think when you are twenty-something you expect to not be invited with a guest. That's what the singles table is for!

We are inviting just about everyone with a guest, but I'm sure most of the ones addressed 'and guest' probably won't even bring one.

But no I don't think it's 'wrong' it's just your preference. As long as they know other people there, they won't need a guest. I think it would be weird though if you invited someone without a guest who may not know anyone else; say a co-worker or out of state friend or something.

Ohhh no I wouldn't do that totally different story these are friends that we each grew up with and would know most of the people there anyway...

Don't worry Mike can come

Re: advice on the 'and guest'

we are only allowing 12 people to bring 'guests'. out of the 12, 8 of them are FHs cousins. the other 4 people are in relationships for more then a year, but for one reason or another we both have not meet their significant other.

there are other people like my uncle & all of the groomsmen who are not being included with a guest. these people do not date & i don't want to have to lay out money for someone they bring to the wedding.

I don't think it's wrong at all. We are inviting people with 'and guest' if they are in a relationship only. There's 1 or 2 people invited who won't know ANYONE else, so they will be invited with 'and guest' but that is all. I don't think people that you want to invite should have to be cut off the list in favor of inviting strangers

No - in fact we are inviting all of FH's cousins without guests (his choice - not mine) And since my coworkers don't want to bring their husbands they told me don't bother and to save my money. If you think someones gonna be majorly offended I would just talk to them about it first if you feel comfortable...

We're not inviting anyone 'and guest' because we simply don't have room! Everyone who is in a serious relationship can bring his/her partner, but that's it! It's not wrong...it's your day!
