Okay here is the deal. I meet this woman at my gym that does makeup and I made an appt with her for a trial next week and I have trials setup for hair and makeup the week after next with some other vendors. I was talking to another bride I met and she was telling me that she was going to a salon to get her hair and make up done on her wedding day because it is less expensive then having someone come to you. Then I started thinking about it and thought that might be a good option for me since I am on a budget. Then I realized that right next to the hotel I am staying at to get ready is a hair salon, so I went to get my hair cut there yesterday and just loved the stylist and the cut she gave me. I spoke to the owner and he said they could work something out with my bridal party and me for updo’s and makeup (they have makeup person at the salon too). Long story short is that I want to cancel the trial with the woman I met at the gym because I feel so up in the air about everything but I feel like I don’t know what to say to her. I know it sounds silly but I just don’t what to say.

Re: Advice Please
Maybe you could just say that you need to go with a salon so everyone could get done at once for time crunch reasons?

Re: Advice Please
I think you should just be honest and tell her you found a salon near the hotel your getting ready at for you and all the girls and it just works out better for you. Im sure she'll understand, people cancel trials with hair and makeup artists all the time when they find something that works out better for them.

Re: Advice Please
Just a word of advice if your having makeup done at a salon...my sister did the same thing for her wedding and for some idiotic reason they overbooked the makeup artists...people were coming in for makeup trials on a Sunday morning! They asked her 'would you mind if we did this makeup trial first, because it won't take long...like 10 minutes. 10 minutes turned into 45 minutes. Both my mom and sister ended up being taken late. So speak with the owner of the salon first and ask how they schedule their clients. Also, if people are going to a wedding and like to have their makeup done professionally, they will also be coming in to have makeup done to be ready in time. Just some words of caution.

I would just be honest with her. Tell her its easier on you to do it that way.

Re: Advice Please
As long as you let her know that it's for convenience reasons, I'm sure she'll understand.

You have such a valid point as to why you would use the salon. I agree, just be honest and tell the woman your situation and that this would be most convenient for you and your BP. I am sure that she will understand. If she doesn't, then you probably wouldn't have wanted her to do your makeup anyway!

Re: Advice Please
If you don't want to tell her the truth, why not just say you mentioned your trial to your MOH and she told you she arranged hair & make-up for you as a surprise.
