Advice please!

There are so many new post on here that im dying to comment on that I don't have time bc I have to go back to work.

Anyways, Im totally broke from saving for our wedding and not making enough money at work...

I have a friends shower coming up on the 25th. Invites were sent out about a mth ago. I just went online to check her registry. She has a honeymoon and a regular set up. Barely anything is bought!!! I feel so bad and confused. She's having a big wedding...

We are not super close but shes a good friend. Im just really strapped for cash right now. Every wknd has been a family party that we have to go to and have to give a gift and its making me even more broke... So, whats a decent price for a gift for her? I feel like spending a little more since not much is bought. Its 2wks away, but idk. She's an awesome person and wouldn't care if I spent $50 on a gift or what I spend... I was planning on $50. She knows we are saving and that Im strapped for cash.

Advice please!

$50 is respectable and very kind of you! Also, maybe you can buy up some smaller items and make a basket, or arrange them in a fun/creative way (since you are a graphic person!) to make it look even bigger/more expensive

Hopefully everyone is just waiting until the last minute.

I think you should give as much as you can without it putting you back financially.

I would be more than happy with a $50 gift at my shower, and she will probably appreciate it a lot since she knows your situation.

I think that $50.00 makes for a very nice shower gift, especially since she knows you are saving for a wedding too!

Exactly this! Or get something off the register and then add some cute books or something, newlywed books are super cute. Add something personal to it, it's the sentimental touch that's more important than how much you spent, trust me!

Re: Advice please!

Personally, I think anything that you can afford is surely appreciated. I love coupons, so see if there are any coupons you can apply to the registry to strech any money you are spending. Also, be creative, look in the dollarstore for extra items that can be added, like different colored bowls, could be used for snacks, cereal, anything. I did a nice arrangement with $50 dollars for my friend's bridal registry. I made an arrangement of different cups she can travel with (she is a coffee junkie) the kerig machine refills. I think made a thing of different tubberware from her registry, and stuffed it with wishing well things. Like an ice-cream scoop, potato peeler, corn holders, etc. I also gave her two different cutting boards, spoonrests (not on her registry) and two muffin pans. My total bill came out to be under $50.00!

I am sure you can do something like this. What's nice also, could be different. On Personalizationmall.com, they have cutting boards that you can engrave something on. I bought this for my FH's grandma and it was beautiful. You can put her future married name on it. Just a thought =) I think thats under $30, and they ALWAYS have coupons..google them online. And then you have $20 dollars to spend on something else.

$50 is definitely a respectable gift. Don't think twice about it- especially because your friend can appreciate your situation. It's tough trying to pay for a wedding.

definitely think that $50 is an appropriate gift. you could even try to get something off the registry for a little less and then make something else.

my one got her family friend a door mat with the new last name and then put together a packet of information she needs for changing her name/getting the marriage license, all great stuff at her fingertips. i thought that was really thoughtful and useful.

That is a perfect amount. Also I wouldn't worry about the registry still having alot of items. Almost everyone buys last minute and even the day of. Don't stress it so much.

I think $50 is fine- there are plenty of nice gifts out there for $50 and under...she knows your saving for your own wedding- so don't stress it

I think $50 is perfect. I had a similar situation with one of my friends who is actually getting married tomorrow (the venetian, I'll let everyone know how it is). A bunch of us chipped in for a larger gift and split the cost. Came out to be around the same price.

I think $50 is totally fine. I would not take into account the fact that alot of things have not been bought yet.

What about getting her a Channa Plaque or something simmilar and then some of the smaller things for the kitchen and make a basket out of it?

$50 is fine. And i love the basket idea. Perhaps you can do that and buy lil items. I'm sure she will love it.

Re: Advice please!

Why dont you buy her a bunch of inexpensive things on the registry so you can make a little gift basket and then get her something personalized so it really comes from the heart.

buy the inexpensive items and make a basket. That is the best way to do it.

Re: Advice please!

$50 is a totally generous amout to spend on a shower gift especially considering that you are on a budget! Don't worry about her registry. Those are items shee would like to have, but no one is obligated to buy! Don't even think twice about it!

I think $50 is definitely a generous amount to spend on a gift or a couple of gifts.
