Advice/Suggestions? (Super Long)
Okay, so before I can ask for some input, I need you to understand FH's family.FFIL = Best Man
FSIL = MOH
FSIL'S KIDS (Names are changed lol)
1. TIMMY (JUNIOR USHER)
2. FREDDY (JUNIOR USHER)
FBIL = NOT INVITED TO THE WEDDING.
FBIL'S KIDS BY HIS EX GF (Names are changed lol)
1. NATHAN (QUESTION IS ABOUT HIM~!)
FBIL'S KIDS BY HIS EX WIFE (Names are changed lol)
1. ANDREW (NOT INVITED)
2. CARLY (NOT INVITED)
Okay, so here's the deal:
FH is super close to his sister and her kids, who are all in the wedding.
He has NO relationship with his brother. His brother isn't invited to the wedding. His brother's ex wife has kept their kids from him since their birth so they aren't invited either.
His brother's ex gf's son is close to us and we have an okay relationship with his nephew's mom.
We would like to include Nathan in the wedding somehow. We came up with asking him to be FMIL's escort. This is the day for ushers v Nathan:
Ushers AND Nathan Will:
Buy a Tux
Get Ready @ FH's House
Receive a Boutanieer (sp?)
Take Pictures Before Church:
Take Party Bus to Church
Escort Guests to Their Pews As They Arrive To The Church
Then Nathan walks FMIL down the aisle as ushers either escort the BMs or wait in the front, not sure yet...
Ushers and Nathan will both be in the BP pictures at the Church, after the ceremony.
The Ushers get back on bus and go to the Vanderbilt Mansion for photos. This includes FFIL. Since FMIL will be alone, we were going to ask Nathan to escort FMIL in the limo with my parents.
Nathan's mom isn't invited to the wedding. I don't know why... I mean, she's civil with FH's family and she is also Nathan (who is 16)'s mother. Personally, I think she should be invited but I don't want to push the issue since I don't know that part of his family and their history all too well, anyway. I have only met Nathan's mom twice in the five years I have been with FH.
At the RH, we will link up with our parents and Nathan for some pictures before the cocktail hour.
I think that at the reception party, when they do the BP announcements, FH's dad should be presented with his mom in the beginning and ask the MC to say '....aaand the groom's mother and his father, who is also the best man, Mr & Mrs. -----' or w/e. I was thinking of having Nathan announced with the Junior Ushers (his cousins).
So here are my questions:
1. Should we ask Nathan to do this?
2. Should we ask him to get a tux?
3. Do you think it would suck being a 16 yr old and your grandmother's escort at your Uncle's wedding? ... even though it's just for two and a half hours (between the church and RH)?
4. I am worried he may feel left out at times!!!
TIA

Don't stress it! I think you've come up with a great way to include him. And I think as long as you don't put a big focus on him being different than the other jr ushers, no one will probably even notice/mind. The Limo might not be fun for him, but I don't see it as a big deal really. It's just a question of how to announce him and whichever way you feel comfortable with I'm sure will be fine!Welcome New Vendors
