ok so i have an extreme fear of flying. have had it for about 7 years.. have tried everything to get rid of it and nothing has worked yet :( .....now the time is upon us to start talking about our honeymoon and my stomach is already turning at the idea of getting on an airplane..... i hate this fear soo much and i would do anything to wake up one day and have it be gone!!!!!!
i researched driving to virginia hopping on an auto tram ( train that hold your car) and taking that to florida, stay in orlando a few days then get on a 5 night cruise...then going back on the train to virginia then drive home...... AM I CRAZY OR WHAT????? lolol i did reseach the cruises out of new york but they are 12 nights and that is just way to long to be on a boat in my opinion
i feel so bad for my fiance bc i know he wants to go someplace awesome and so do i but i just cant shake this horrible fear i have !!! grrrr
anyone have any ideas on what i should do ??

would you fly someplace if it was only 2 hours away? what about cruises from other coasts... there has to be cruises they leave out of other places than NY and FL? Look up Boston or Virginia.. then you can drive there and hop on the ship???
i also hate flying and my limit is 4 hours. FH doesnt like that too much.

We are taking a 9 night cruise out of New Jersey through Royal Caribbean...there area a whole bunch of cruises that leave from there!! No flying necessary!

my brother's the same way. he just drove down to key west in like 27 hours straight.
im sorry you're stressed about it!!! i agree with the others in looking into cruises from other ports along the coast.
i went on a cruise to the caribbean that left from new york and it was great! you didnt even realize that you're on a boat. all of the port stops broke it up nicely. all of the days at sea forced me to relax! it was the first vacation that i didnt need a vacation from! lol GL

ive taken a few cruises right out of ny. i loveeee them. once ur on that ship, even if u dont move.. u feel like ur on vacation. u dont even feel like ur on manhattans west side lolol

did you look into all the cruise lines? i just took a 6 day cruise out of ny..you also might want to look for cruises out of boston, philly, jersey and baltimore..

I agree with the above posters - I've taken 10 day cruises out of NY and they are great. You really don't feel like you're on a boat and they have tons of things to do - you never get bored!

Why don't you look at cruises that leave from NY and if they are 12 days, they have ones where you stay on the cruise ship for part of the trip and part of the trip on land at a hotel.

a woman i work with just did the cruise out of NY and had the same concerns as you but when she got back she told everyone is was the best trip of her life. she said she loved the fact that there was no flying, no waiting in lines and then she was home in 40mins when the boat docked. she raved about it!

We did the 9 night twice and it was perfect amount of time. Esp in November-you will get a great deal. Then you can upgrade to a larger room or a suite. Plus your only in your room to sleep. Theres so much going on that you wont be in the room for 9-12 days!! We went to Puerto Rico for our last cruise and I took a xanex to go on the plane. It really helped I was so relaxed. I get what your sayin about flying but you just have to tell youself that its fine and its all in your head.

i have a terrible fear of flying..i panic about 2-3 days b4 i even have to get on a plane and then when i do get on it and its taking off its instant tears bc im so scared!!! my FIL live in FL so FH and I go down there a lot by plane...if your FH is stuck on going somewhere that you have to fly maybe you can go to a dr...if you go and tell them how bad your fear is they usually perscribe you xanax (zanex)....it does help a lot it calms you down sooo sooo much and makes you just fall asleep...i know the last thing your gunna wanna do is be drugged on your HM lol but it reallly does help a lot so if he really wants to go away that can always be an option to help you

There are cruises that leave out of New York!
Or you could always get drunk and/or pop some pills before the plane ride. Honestly, when you land at your awesome destination the plane ride will be well worth it!

I have the same fear. i REFUSE to ever fly again. IMO if you are really afraid of flying, then don't. There are plenty of places in the states that you can go to. I don't think anything is crazy if you are trying to make your honeymoon more enjoyable for you.
I know that if we were to take a plane, I would be freaking out the entire honeymoon about having to take a plane back. So I don't want to ruin the HM by doing so. THat's my honest opinion.

maybe try xanax to calm you down? I was the same way, i never went on a plane until i was 16 and my first time i was freaking out as we were taking off... eventually i ended up in a job where i had to travel all the time so i kinda got used to it the more i flew... you will be fine!
