Not being a racist....but where are the hairstylists and make-up artists that cater to Black women? Did anyone on these boards have any luck as of yet or nformation?

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

Here are my shoes:

My bridalshoes, I'm starting off in these until after the first dance and then I'm switching to the 2nd pair for the rest of the day....my bridal consultant told me I could not bustle my dress until after my 1st dance beforehand is inappropriate and not proper etiquette (heavens to betsy!)....so you know I'm going to hate heaving that train on that lil' wrist strap!

What are your attendants wearing? I need your help...I'm at a crossroads withmy Mom...I like dress #2 for my attendants and my Mom likes #1 because it matches the cut and design of my dress, I purchased #1 already (it is pretty and an exact style match) but I'm thinking of purchasing #2 as well a little more daring...I don't want my attendants uncomfortable for the day (think undergarments),anyway I purchased the shoes also in lilac, color is a perfect match!Let me know what you ladies think! Thanks

1st choice I have already, sorry I could not make it bigger but the dress has beading in a floral pattern all over the top it looks good in person...the 2nd choice I'm thinkng of - its plain no beading just fabric gathered in the back and falling but a lil' sexier choice #2 has a larger pic right before this post

Hi all,
Does anyone know if Jade FX (makeup services on this site) has experience with black brides? Hopefully I can get in contact with Lynda Lane soon. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

I like #2 with the straps, it definitely is sexier and it I think it is a good match for the sandals. Also, it might be a nice cool dress for August. Do you want your BMs to duplicate the style of your dress? Are you having the lavender or the blue?- both are pretty

I like #2 the first one looks like something Laura Engulls (Little House on the Prairie) would wear. #2 all the way plus it works better with the shoes. Gotta get the shoes!!

I definately like the straps better. My color is also lilac and i am actually getting a dress similar to that at david's bridal with the sink in the front of the dress instead of the swag.

I finally brought my shoes. Unfortunately, I can not find a site that has them so I can post a pic. I will continue my search. I brought them from DSW for $50. I love it when I find a bargain!

I'll keep my style mistakes to myself. Happy wedding planning.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

Thanks for all your responses...I actually purchased dress #1 and have it here in my home...it looks much better in person than on the model in the pic she does it no justice...the strapless sandals match the dress both are in lilac...although I like dress#2 it does not match the style of my wedding dress, and when your pics come back from the photographer some ladies will realize the style mistake(s) they made...for example if your dress has straps your attendants and flowergirls design should be similar and uniform...the wedding is not a fashion show per se of how many different colors and style a person can come up with in one day but how the style compliments and enhances the entire bridal party (male & female)....my FH and I are stressing over tux designs now you would be surprised at the details

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

congrats on your purchase!! my wedding colors are lilac also.

Did anyone go to the WBLS wedding expo at Penn Plaza hotel this week? I did not b/c I went to it last year and 1 show was enough for me. Don't get me wrong I had a wonderful time, but it is alot to absorb at one time. Can be mind boggling.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

Is anyone else getting really excited? My wedding is less than 6 months away!!!!! I found a great hairdresser at the Ulta salon near Roosevelt Field. We have been going over the possibilities for the big day and I am going to start my trials in June. If anyone wants her info let me know. I have a makeup trial with Oksana on Friday so I'll post pics after.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We are going on a 7-night Southern Carribean cruise leaving from San Jual and going to St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, and Aruba. At the end of the cruise, we plan on staying in San Juan for 4 more days
