I posted this on BHB as well but thought maybe the 2012 girls could help me...
Has anyone ever heard After Hours' live band? I've seen great reviews for their DJ on these boards but I'm curious how their live band is. Has anyone seen them at a wedding or showcase and can give me some feedback? We're considering going to see their showcase this weekend and would love to know what to expect.
Thanks!

Re: After Hours Entertainment
I have never seen their band but I watched videos of their percussionist and he was great. Phil may have some videos of the live band on the website, maybe check there. or if he has them on a DVD, he could send that to you

Re: After Hours Entertainment
I booked with Phil in November for DJ and some live music. I got several references from him, one of which was for his band. The bride who had the band could not stop raving about how great they were!

Congratulations on your engagement! I'd be happy to answer any questions for you. First off, Phil and the Afterhours band did an AMAZING job at our wedding. I can't tell you how many people we heard compliments from, ranging from thinking that it was actually the song playing and not the band (since they hit every song right on) to that was the best wedding band they've ever heard. I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical at first in even using a band but my husband is the one that wanted it. Since we couldn't decide we got both the band and the DJ which worked out nice. We ended up adding an extra half hour at the end of the night just for the DJ and not the band. The energy that they brought was great and the variety of music that they can play really was awesome. They even did 'stereo love' that disco/techno song which i assumed they would play the CD of but they did an awesome job! Obviously there are factors that go into the feel of your wedding as a whole and it all just came together so nice for us. I know for a fact that my family and the group that was there like to dance and party so it wasn't a question as to whether we had to worry about that aspect. Also it was a friday night so people are ready to go. Then again we were looking for high energy, dancing and partying that included everyone; old young and in between. They really did a nice job of sequencing the sets so that there was something for everyone. We also had the band do our first dance songs and again, I was hesitant about not having the 'real' version of the songs, but they blew me away. I would advise trying to see a showcase for your own comfort. Thats pretty much what sold it for me. And a word of advise from a friend who's been to a lot of weddings and heard other bands 'You got to have the horns'. Its just her opinion but some of the bands with not as many members without the horns just didn't sound as good. We didn't really look at other bands because we were planning from out of state and didn't have the time to travel to NY often. I also had done some research with DJs and if we weren't going with the band we were considering Tommy Tunes. We also used the string trio for the ceremony and from what I remember they sounded great. I will have to wait for the video to hear it all. Lastly in terms of advice for working with them, Phil is very available and quick to respond to concerns and requests. The music sheet is due 2 months before the wedding but I was very late on that. He will harass you to get it done, but only to help you stay on schedule. He also is decisive which helped me since sometimes I'm terrible at making decisions. If there are songs you are requesting be specific with versions if there are any. Not his fault but we requested our friends wedding song be played for their anniversary and it wasn't their version and sounded totally different. Thats just stupid little stuff with any band/dj you decide to work with. I am 100% happy with our decision to use the band and Phil. He is warm, friendly, helpful and everything you want for the day of your wedding.
