What's the deal with after parties? Is it something you should do if you have a day wedding? And then doesn't that use up any money you might have saved from having the reception during the day? Do you have them after an evening reception? Do you have to have one at all? And then where do you have it and how much do they cost? That's a lot of questions, sorry!
The Carltun offers an after hours for extra money, but since we are having our wedding on a Sunday I feel not a lot of people will want to stay for it because it would start at a 11:30pm. It wouldn't be worth the money, but I have blocked rooms at a nearby hotel and a lot fo my family and friends are staying there so those who want to can after party their for much less money.

Re: After parties?
My reception ends at 12:30 so if people want to go out afterwards thats fine with me but I will not be paying for them to drink and things like that. Most likely we will all go out someplace afterwards or maybe go back to my FH bar and just hang out there

Re: After parties?
Wow, I was just talking to one of my co-workers about this EXACT thing. Our wedding ends at 5:30 and FI and I were thinking about having an after party but didn't know if we should or not.
Reading some of the responses I think we will.

Re: After parties?
We invited our bridal party, ceremony participants and other good friends to join us at the pub in the hotel where we are staying. We're not buying them drinks or food. It's just a low-key opportunity to spend some quality time with the people who are closest to us.

Re: After parties?
Ours end at 6:30. I never thought about extending the party. We reserved a hotel suite for the two of us to continue our 'own' party for afterwards. Do most people continue their party/wedding after it ends especially if it's a day affair?

Re: After parties?
our wedding ends at 6pm and the next day everyone has off from work (july 4th) so we booked a limo from 10pm-4am ($600) and we are taking the bridal party and their dates (20 people total) to the city to go clubbing. we aren't paying for the drinks or anything, just the limo.

Re: After parties?
Our reception ends at 5:30 and I think we will have an after party so taht we can spend more time with our OOT guests. I am just not sure if we are going to do it at someone's house or a bar or something. I would like to keep my dress on and I dont think that there will be room for me to walk around the house and its not appropriate for me to wear it to a bar. Hmmm, something to think about
