Any brides out there planning an after party for post-reception time? I would like to do this and am wondering how it is usually done. Also any ideas for locations??

Re: After Party
my cousin did this at her wedding a million years ago. I think her reception ended kinda early (like 9 or 10) so we all went back to the hotel where she had rented out a space for us all to continue. That was REALLY fun!!
At the RH where I am, they have a motel connected. Some of my cousins from Queens were talking about renting out one of those rooms for the night. Partly so that they can drink all they want and not have to drive home, but also because the party ends at 11 - i think we're gonna want to keep going.
My sister just kinda had a bunch of people head back to the house after her wedding. We hung out an hour or two before her and her new husband left for the night.
I think it's nice to have something extra for close family

Re: After Party
We are buying an extra hour at our place. Its at a mansion so the after hour will be in a room different from the reception with a different vibe....Roaming sax, cigars, after dinner cordials, late night munchies, and candy bar...If you cant do it at the venue then do it at the hotel your out of towners are staying...they'll stay open until usually 2 for some extra bucks. GL!

Re: After Party
We sent out evites to ppl that we really wanted to come to the after party so they're prepared. Most of them brought a change of clothes. After the reception ended (11:30) we walked over to the bar, it was 4 buildings down. Only 8 people showed up at the after party but we had a blast! We went to Johnny Utahs near Rockefeller Center.

Re: After Party
we went back to the OOT hotel which had a big lobby, a bar, and we ordered 10 pizzas. they also reheated our leftovers from the rehearsal dinner we held there the night before, and one of our friends stopped and picked up 2 cases of beer on the way over. we partied in the lobby and in one of the rooms for 5 hours before my parents made us leave and go to our hotel, but the party kept going!

Re: After Party
Our venue offers a bonfire package on the beach after the wedding so we are going to do that! It sounds like so much fun!

Re: After Party
our wedding ends at 1am so any after party might be just a small get together at the bar at whichever hotel we stay at

Re: After Party
We're having an afternoon reception so we can have an after party- it just makes the party last longer! We plan on carrying it over to a hotel bar.

Re: After Party
we did one....but we had blocked rooms at a hotel, and they offered to open up the lounge/bar for us at no additional cost the hubster & i didn't go..but everyone else did! i could not believe that everyone went because our wedding wasn't over untill 2:30! lol. but hey - i guess when there's a party there's a party & they were all crashing there anyways(since it was in the hotel) i know my cousin did this too...but they all just piled into a local bar... i also have a friend who had an afternoon reception & had a big backyard party afterwards.

Re: After Party
im attending a wedding in october and in the invitation was an insert for the after party. Its at a bar/club in the city. The reception is also in the city. I found out recently they rented out the whole place to have their after party there.
I think it was good they put the inserts for it in the invite.
