after party?

Is anyone having an after party?

If so, where?

And do you invite all the wedding guests?

Yes, we will be having one at a nearby hotel where FH and I will be staying (and any OOT guests who choose to stay there too). We are putting inserts with the invitations saying that 'the celebration will continue following the reception. please join us if you desire'. Everyone will be invited but I am pretty sure it will just be the younger crowd (ie: our friends) that come.

I think we're probably going to arrange something at a nearby hotel, because I certainly don't want the fun to end.

In general, I think you CAN pay for the after party, but I don't think it's necessarily required.

We are having an afterparty at the RH. We addd on an extra hour and a half. They are setting it up in the CH room, and we are doing mini cheeseburgers and grilled cheeses, a candy buffet, cigars and cognacs, continue the open bar. We just didn't want to have to figure out what we were doing after the reception ended. We are all late night people so it worked out for us! We are spending like $3,000 all together on the afterparty.

We're having an after party at the hotel. We have you figure out which hotel we're blocking rooms at...then by the size of the bar determine who will be invited

These sound like all good ideas. I'm thinking of like a pub setting, very low key. I would like the after party to be mainly for our friends, maybe like 50 - 60 people. We are inviting approximately 140 to the wedding.

How far in advance do you think we would have to book an after party?

We're not sure. The wedding ends at 5pm so FH's friends will be hanging out in the city after. I'm not sure if I'll be up to it, but with the adrenaline flowing I just might. Though at the same time I'd like to have some alone time. We'll have to sit down and discuss it more. My guess is if we do decide to do it, we'll just mention to others shortly before the wedding or on the same date what's going on after if they'd like to join. I would limit the invites to the younger crowd though (well in our case that's the late 20s to 30s crowd )

Look for places close to your RH. Some bars have private rooms for parties so maybe you can do this. And for a bar most require a bar guarantee, meaning you just have to guarantee them that your guests will spend X amount in about 3 hours. Or if you would prefer then you can pay that bar guarantee so your guests drink free its up to you. For most places ive seen bar guarantee about $1500.

If you do get a private room then i would go a few months before the wedding to book, but if you want to just get info now you can start calling up places now so this way you can decide what you want to do.

We're not having one. Our wedding doesn't end until 1:30 am so I doubt anyone would want to go. Also by then I think I just want to go relax with the hubby and be alone.
