after party

after party

I need some advice! I am so confused.

My FH and I are having an early wedding. It will be over at 6:30. We were looking into having a little get together somewhere after where we can invite friends. Originally, we were going to have it in the backyard but I realized we should really stay at a hotel the night of our wedding.

So now I am trying to find a place near Westbury Manor. Most of my family lives in Glen Cove, and most of his family is in Islip. So we are trying to have it somewhere in between. I just don't know where! And, then we were planning on leaving for our honeymoon the next day, but now I feel like we should wait a day. What are you guys doing?

We are waiting two weeks to going on a honeymoon but only because I have kids at home and I have to sort things out with my job before I leave. I definitely know a lot of people have it at a hotel after but is also nothing wrong with having it in your backyard as well. You can even hope to the hotel after the backyard. We are not having an after party but if I was I would have people come back to the hotel more to be a little selfish and make it more convenient for me. There is a hotel right next to Châteaubriand and we had stayed there and I like it over there. I have seen a lot of brides and grooms staying there after their wedding next door

after party

We have family all over the island and then people coming from out of state as well (and we live in Jersey) so we are staying at the Huntington Hilton... Our wedding is in Islip and ceremony in Babylon so that Hilton is the most convenient for us. Also our wedding ends on the earlier side in terms of weddings at 8:00 and we wanted to have an after party of some kind so we are pushing for people to stay at the hotel afterwards...

Just a heads up on leaving for the honeymoon the next day, I'm not sure where you are going but our travel agent advised us against going the next day as we would have to be up at 4 am to make a flight to St. Lucia so we had to ammend our original plans to leave the following day...

Hope this helps :) and good luck planning... And if you contact the Huntington Hilton ask for Annette, she's awesome to work with

Our wedding is on a Sunday and ends at 11pm. I don't think many people would be up for an after people because I assume some people have to work the next day Monday. We are leaving for our honeymoon not the day after the wedding but the next day (Tuesday). That will give us time to relax, pack, and do the necessary things before we leave. I like the idea of not rushing and this extra day before we leave will be good. I will be exhausted anyway from partying all night!
