So my FH wants to do an after party really bad... honestly I have never heard of this but whatever, I didnt care one way or another if I wasnt paying for it, so I let him have his way. .. well we booked our room block at the Great Neck Inn and the Ramada (a cheaper rate) but only the Inn has a bar. They will rent it to us for 500 but that includes 200 tip for the bartender and 300 for guests to drink from.. i dont wnat to pay for them but this is the only way we will get it... the other thing is they will only keep it open until 3am... so I dont know if its worth it..
what do you guys think?

Re: After party question
Almost every wedding I've been to has an 'After Party' at the hotel bar but it's a cash bar and people are fine with it. I don't think anyone expects the bride and groom to pay for it after paying for a whole wedding. Plus, you don't know who will actually want to or can stay up and keep drinking after 5 hours of it at the wedding. You'd be suprised how many people end up passing out and if you guys are paying for it, it's a waste of money. You should be able to find a hotel that will keep the bar open for free or not more than $100. That's what we're doing. We paid $100 to keep the bar open until 3 a.m. and people are paying for their own drinks.

Re: After party question
We wanted to do that.. but unfortuantely, there are only two hotels in great neck and one doesnt have a bar! lol .. so the Inn was the only choice, thats probably why they charge. We could have it somewhere else but then we would be shuttling poeple back and forth ... its not worth it either to travel so much after the wedding

Re: After party question
FH really wanted to do it too. However our reception ends at 12:30 am. All of the weddings that I've been to that have had an after party - unless the wedding was a day wedding - they really weren't much of anything. lots of people go home or just wind up crashing in their room. We decided against the after party and are doing a brunch the next day.
