I have decided to schedule a consultation for lasik. I am so excited and am hoping it is not going to cost me an excessive amount of money. MY consultation is on wednesday(next wednesday) at 430.
Anyone have any advice?
YAY... I might actually be able to SEE on my wedding day!

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
Who are you going to? I had it done in 2001 and it's the BEST thing I have EVER done!! YOU MUST and I STRESS MUST... DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!! There are a lot of 'unqualified' people out there. So just be sure of the credentials, peoples references, etc.
Good luck and I hope if you do it you have results like I did... FANTASTIC!
I went to Dr. Weinstein in Commack. All my cousins went to him. He's amazing.

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
Good luck!! I had it done about 3 years and it was one of the best things I ever did. It's so amazing not to have to think about glasses or contacts after anymore after so many years. Not to mention more convenient. I'd just make sure you're comfortable with the doctor and s/he has lots of experience. Also, check with your insurance to see if they'll cover it - a lot don't, but my FH and I went to the same guy (before we ever met!) and he paid $10 while I paid many many times that. There are also financing options, which is what I did.
Hope the consultation goes well!

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
The docter I am going to is very well known and FH's dad has been going to him for years for regular eye care.
I am so excited and I hope that Im not blown away by the price.

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
Keep me posted please - I'm curious to know the price as well.
Mom got it done about eight years ago and it was the best decision she's ever made in her life (what she said...)

i had it done best decision i made - i am a person who pushed the limit (iwas not a good candiate) but worth it for me - made decision lot harder
remember to not wear your contacts for a few days before so they can properly measure your eye - they want the top layer that regrows every 48 hours to as perfect as possible and contacts change that

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
I had it done two years ago and have loved every minute since. Let me know if you have any questions.
And look into your insurance - some companies are paying a portion of the costs.

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
I used to work for an eye docs office that did it. While I worked there my mom, uncle and SIL had it done by the MDs that I worked for. I HIGHLY recommend doing it. I know all the stories and the issues and let me tell you.... there aren't!!!!! Yes it is surgery, but not having to wear glasses the rest of your life is sooooo worth it. Do remember that you pay for what you get, so if you are going to the cheap guy in town, then it probably isn't worth it.

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
Thanks for all the comments!!
I have no idea how much it will cost as I have heard anywhere from 2500 to 6000.
I will keep everyone posted because I am really exicted to start the process and hopefully complete the surgery.
Can those ofyou that had it done FM me prices?

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
I got lasik 6 months ago!
It is the best thing ever and worth every penny.
It took 3 months for my eyes to totally adjust, I had trouble with light sensitivity and dryness.
Now, everything is great and I have 20/15 vision.
FM me if you want more details.
I would definitely recommend the place I went to (office in Manhattan and Garden City).

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
I had this done 1 1/2 years ago. Best thing I ever did. I had terrible vision, and now i have 20/20.
It is soo nice not having to deal with glasses or contacts. I did a lot of research and decided to go with Dr. James Kelly, here is his website:

I think it involves the state of your corneas and if they are able to handle the re-shaping

Good Luck Jen!!!
I would LOVE to get that done myself. I have always thought about doing it but never went for it. Ahhh...I could just imagine no more contacts or glasses.

Yeah, I think that's most of it - also how long your prescription has been stable.

Re: After yet ANOTHER 'eye' issue
Jen,
Can you ask what the effect is on night vision? I heard that it makes your vision spotty at night which is not good since I drive at night.
