buy FH a gift? We started talking about wedding gifts and he mentioned I never got him an engagement gift. Was I supposed to????

I would have liked to get him something beautiful, to be honest... but I'm an unemployed 2010 graduate still living on loans, so I have no money and FH is a lawyer already so he earns an ok living... plus we'd both rather put that money (that I don't really have anyway) to the wedding. But he'll get a great wedding gift.

Yep. For our 1yr engagaversary I got him a beautiful Movado watch w diamonds as an engagement gift.

Also, my best friend just got engaged and took her FH on a cruise as a gift.

FHs best friend got a rolex after he proposed.

I think its a very nice way to say thank you and I love u, but def wasn't expected.

I bought him a Playstation 3 - I thought it was a good compromise.

We agreed that we weren't doing wedding gifts (I'll probably write a nice letter), but he recently confessed he found a great wedding gift for me, so now I'm like greeeattttt, more money to spend in the 11th hour...

No, I didn't buy him an engagment gift, but I do remember giving him a bigger Christmas gift that year.
As for a wedding gift, I purchased his wedding band.
