Re: afternoon wedding question

I am having my reception in the afternoon as well. I think as long as you and your bridal party are willing to get up and get ready really early, it is definitely possible. My MOH went to an afternoon wedding in Oct. and said the bride and her bridal party got their hair done starting at like 5:00AM and if thats not a problem....keeping all that extra $$ in your pocket is well worth it. Who can sleep that morning anyway? I have also spoke to several hair/makeup artists who said they have done early early appointments in the past and that is not a problem. Good Luck. Im in the same boat, so if you have any more questions FM me.

I am having the same start time and taking pictures before as well - so I hope it works! You just need to start getting ready at like 7! You wont be able to sleep the night before anyway!

Re: afternoon wedding question

i think an afternoon wedding is beautiful - especially if the weather is nice!! i'm having an evening reception and getting marriend in the afternoon... so expensive and so much time in between...

You should do whatever you want and just enjoy the day!

I'm doing it. The only way I could afford my hall was to do an afternoon wedding, and I don't want to miss my cocktail hour. Just have to get up early early early !!!

Re: afternoon wedding question

i say do it! a friend of mine is getting married in september and they are having an 11:30 AM ceremony, 12:30 PM coctail hour.... they are taking pics beforehand, too=--- it sounds a little nuts, but as long as you have good BMs who are willing to be up and be there for you bright and early, don't worry about it save money where you can!

Ok so I'm booked at lands end, and to make the whole thing cheaper i decided to have an afternoon wedding. We are having the ceremony at lands end as well. My FH and I wanted to enjoy the cocktail hour so we decided to take pictures before the ceremony (yeah i know it's bad luck to see eachother before the wedding but we'll get through it, lol). The ceremony will start at 12:00 and the cocktail hour starts at 1:00 and so on.
Do you think this is crazy? Is it possible to get myself and all the bridesmaids ready that early in the morning, take all the pictures, and then get married?

My mom thinks we should change it to an evening wedding. What do you girls think?

I have this same schedule and will be taking pics b4 @ OWG.

Re: afternoon wedding question

You'll be able to do it!

If the ceremony starts at 12pm, you'll prob have to be there around 11:30am/11:00am for photos. Add in transport time to the RH, one hour for your hair (at least), 30-45 minutes for each of your girls (unless you get another hairdresser for your BM), you'll have plenty of time!

I have a 10:30am ceremony and waking at 5:30am - believe me - if I can do this, you can and you'll be able to sleep a few hours longer!!

I am having an afternoon wedding as well. My ceremony is at 11:00 and everyone, including myself, is just going to have to suck it up! haha. I think it is possible. I am just going to make sure my RD is not too late the night before. I don't want to have circles under my eyes!

I pretty much have the same schedule. My ceremony is at 12:30 followed by the 1:00 p.m. cocktail hour/reception.

I thought of asking my hairdresser if it will help matters if I wash and blow dry my hair the night before so that it is ready just to be styled on the morning of the wedding.

As for the BM's I was a BM in a wedding that started at 11:00 a.m. - I went to the salon the day before and told the hairdresser my dilemna. She gave a great up do and wrapped it for me. I looked like Aunt Jemima, but it paid off. I was able to sleep without ruining my hair and was ready lickity split the next day.

just something to think about it.

Re: afternoon wedding question

well, if you're crazy then so am I because I am doing the same exact thing!

It's going to stink waking up so early (I'm so not a morning person) but I have a feeling I'll be too excited to sleep anyway!!

Re: afternoon wedding question

Keep in mind that you'll need to get ready super early. I would suggest having the rehearsal dinner 2 nights before your wedding (instead of the night before) so you can get a good night's sleep and not have to worry about being completely pooped by the time the reception rolls around...

ETA: I saw a TLC Wedding Story once where the bride wanted her ceremony at 10 AM

She had to get up at 4:30 AM to get showered before the hair and make-up people arrived!

If she could do it, you can definitely do it for a noon ceremony!

Re: afternoon wedding question

My ceremony is 11:30 - as it is my makeup/hair person is coming at 7:30am to get everyone ready - I just didn't think there would be enough time so we're doing pics during coctail hour. I have a surprise for my FH anyway, so I need to keep him away from the area and distracted

ETA: I thik either way will work out great, so whichever yo uprefer, you can always make it work!!

Re: afternoon wedding question

I have the same schedule. Getting ready at 7:00.

My hall is on the water too, which you really cannot appreciate at a night wedding. I also have alot of older relatives, and they are very happy with the day wedding. Just think no one will be leaving early!!

Re: afternoon wedding question

Everyone's said the same thing, and I'm doing the same also; the ceremony is at 10:30am. I say if it's too early for you, then just come to the reception, that's ok. I know the closest family will be there and the out of towners might skip it, that's alright with me.

Besides, we have the cocktail hour starting at 12 which will give us about an hour after the ceremony for pics. There's a little 'village' right next to the reception site so they shouldn't have a hard time with finding something to do. If I had had it any earlier, we wouldn't have been able to serve alcohol at the cocktail hour!
