I am getting married in the afternoon at Land's End too! We aren't seeing each other beforehand though. So before we are taking the pics of me and my side/bms and FH is taking pics of him with his side/bms. Then we extended the CH to 2 hours - so we will take about 45 minutes of pics then (both sides, entire BP and me and FH) and then enjoy the rest of our CH!

Re: afternoon wedding question
Our ceremony is at 12 and CH at 12:30. We are starting pictures there at 9 am. Hair and makeup is coming at 6am, limo will leave my house at 8:30 am. Its totally doable, and really, I'll only be getting up an hour earlier than I usually do. We'll have bagels and drinks for everyone.

Re: afternoon wedding question
i am also having an afternoon wedding, starting my hair and m/u at 530 AM (pictures are starting at 900Am at my reception hall, guests are arriving by 11 for a 1130 reception) luckily my sister is freinds with the owner of the salon i am using so she is opening the store for me and 3 of my BM and my mom, the other 2 BM are getting their hair and m/u done somewhere else, which is good. I sort of wish i had a later wedding now b/c i am getting nervous that we wil;l be cutting it all close!

Re: afternoon wedding question
My best friend just had an afternoon wedding. We had to be at the hall by 10:30 for pictures because her ceremony was at 12pm. We were up at 3am to get our hair and make-up done. We just made sure we had tons of coffee but it work out just fine.

Re: afternoon wedding question
Sounds great. Save the money and keep it as an afternoon thing. You could always have an afterparty!!
It might stink to wake up so early but, heck, its your wedding, its one day to wake up early !!!

Re: afternoon wedding question
It's absolutely possible. Just be prepared to get up very early (you probably won't sleep much the night before anyway).
I was able to get a lot done that morning. I got married on a Sunday morning at 11:30. I was up around 5/5:30. The hair and make-up people came to the hotel at 6 am and started working on me and 2 other girls. Once I was done, the girls helped me get ready. DH and I wanted to take pics at the arboretum. Since it would be too hectic trying to coordinate with everyone, we decided that only the two of us would take pics there. DH arrived separately at the arboretum so we could have a first time seeing other moment that the photographer could capture. While we took pics at the arboretum for 1 - 1 1/2 hours, the rest of the bridal party got ready at the hotel. Our families and bridal party met us at the Crescent around 9. We took family and bridal party pics there for about 1 1/2 hours. Then, we had a quick rehearsal at 10:30. It was a little rushed b/c of the arboretum pics, but we got everything in and still had time to spare.

Re: afternoon wedding question
People do it all the time....FMIL eased my mind when I was worried about the same thing and said, 'You're not going to get any sleep the night before anyway, you might as well know you have to get up early and get it over with and then enjoy the rest of the day. If it's at night you will have to wait ALL day long just to get married.' She had a VERY valid point as I am not the most relaxed person (when anticipating things) and FH is the least patient person ever born.
