Re: afternoon wedding....help!

As of now I am hoping I can have someone come to us to take care of hair. Make-up we will handle ourselves. I can't justify spending the amount people have quoted on make-up, but that may change as the date grows closer...

In all the weddings I have participated in I have absolutely HATED the way my make-up was done and wound up re-doing it as we were out the door. What's good for a bride may not necessarily be good for her girls, so I'm keeping that in the back of my mind...

Re: afternoon wedding....help!

I'm still not sure what I will do- my ceremony is also at 11 and photographer is getting there at 9. My friend is doing ym hair and I will have a makeup artist do me. I really want to do something for them but some have particualr people to do there hair and not sure who wants their face touched. I will decide these things within the next month!

I would suggest talking to your girls and asking them. Even though they might have a preferred hair dresser/make-up they might not be open at 7:00am. And you might have to get someone to come to the house

Re: afternoon wedding....help!

My ceremony is at 11:30am, and I have to be ready for pictures at 9am.

I am having my hair/makeup done at the Inn at Fox Hollow where I am staying the night before.

I have trials set up w/ Bridal Touch by Elena & Jillian from Gorgeous Faces, so I will have them tell me what time they should be there.

BM hair/makeup can run anywhere from 40-65 per service and bride about 200-250 for the whole package. Some charge extra for traveling fees, so make sure to ask if you don't want to travel to a salon that morning & want at home services.

I'm thinking someone to come to the house/catering hall. I'm getting married at 11 am at the hall and will need to be ready for pics by 9.

My ceremony is at 11:30. My friend is doing our hair (me, mom, sister, FG and MOG). We are going to her shop because I think it will be easier and less crowded with all those people. We are having the make-up person come to the shop...so we can do an assembly line type thing. Photographer is coming around 9:15. The shop is about 10 minutes away...we are starting at 6:30am...I hope we don't run late!!!

Re: afternoon wedding....help!

We have to be at the hall for pictures at 10:30. We are getting ready at a hotel near-by, with makeup and hair stylists coming to the hotel probably at around 7 or 7:30 to be able to have everyone done and dressed in time. Bridal party updos average around $50-75, depending on the stylist. Bride is anywhere from $100-150.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest trying to find somebody who is willing( and affordable) to come in-house to get ready. I would much rather have everyone together.JMO

Re: afternoon wedding....help!

I'll tell you what I did that worked out pretty well.

My wedding was at 10 AM.

So I required my entire BP to stay in the hotel bridal suite with me (I used Wingate Inn - Garden City- the suite is big) I paid for the suite.
Anyway, the girls stayed on one floor w/me, while the guys stayed in the other suite with hubby. (we did NOT see each other at all, LOL)
A couple of the girls wanted their own room w/their hubbies so they paid for a separate room in the same hotel.

So in the morning:

4:45 am - our makeup artist JN came to the hotel bridal suite. I had a schedule of who went in 1/2 hour slots. For myself, I had a 1 hour slot.

I found a great hair stylist in Westbury 5 minutes from the hotel, so she opened at 5 am, and we went 2 at a time to the salon for the hair.
Note: The night before the wedding, most of us went to the salon and got our hair washed and set in curlers. We slept in the curlers and in the morning just had to get styled. This save A LOT of time. Then there were just a couple who needed their hair blowdryed not SET, so they did everything in the morning.

All makeup and hair was done by 9 am. I was ready by 8:30 so we started taking pictures then. The photographer was there since 8 and took some pics of us getting ready.

The guys left the hotel around 9:15 am and arrived to the church around 9:45 am. The girls and I left the hotel around 9:45 and were just about 15 minutes late to the Church.
That was fine by me, when we got there the guests were just getting situated and everything was perfect

So as long as you are organized and make sure to DO A TIMELINE SCHEDULE for the hair and make up you should be fine.

PS. There are sylists that will come to the hotel as well. I didn't need that b/c mine was so close.

Let me know if you have any more questions. You can FM me any time. Happy Planning

Re: afternoon wedding....help!

thank you Sassy
That timeline is awesome. I need to work on that to figure things out. Also I think going to a close salon is great because then you possibly have two hair stylists to get the job done quicker.
anyone else with timelines would be appreciated
