Age and Weight Loss

Age and Weight Loss

Is it just me or does anyone notice that it gets harder to lose weight as you get older? I'm not talking about older as in your forties. I am 27 and I notice it is MUCH harder to lose weight than it was when I was 25. Doing the same things I used to do to lose weight quickly just do not work. I've been on a diet for two weeks and lost ONE pound. Two years ago, doing the same thing, I would have lost at least 5!

Is this my imagination or does your body change at 27??

I've always read that your metabolism starts a downward spiral at the age of 20.

I definitely agree with this. I found that in my early-mid-20's, no problem losing weight, eating a lot more of things I wanted & then starting in later 20's & early 30's, its much rougher losing weight, staying fit.

i have been going through the same thing. i'm 25 now, and in trying to lose weight, i've had weeks of thinking that my body was weight-loss resistant. it's very weird. when i moved to phase two of south beach, i didn't lose an ounce in like 6 weeks, even though as a matter of calories, i was not eating much. same thing happened when i just started working out a couple of times a week and cutting out junk food. seems like whatever i do maintains my weight unless it's drastic. it's very discouraging.

27 must be the age! I gained so much weight when I was 27, and now at 28 it is soooooooooo hard to lose it. I am losing it, but slowly, good luck to you.

Just wait until 35. I work so hard just to maintain any weight loss- forget about what I HAD to do to lose weight. It was insane- working out 6 days a week and eating practically nothing fun at all for 3 months- it was torture.
