Age you started wearing makeup?

How old were you when you started wearing makeup? Was it an issue with your parents? Did you wear it tastefully or not?
My sister and I were talking about this over the weekend. Neither of us were allowed to wear anything until we were 16, but no way did that stop us...
I graduated in 1992, hair and makeup was a BIG thing! My whining finally wore down my mother and she let me use hairspray. So as a freshman I had the GIGANTIC hair and no makeup. I then became one of the guidette-wannabe's in the back on the bus piling on the makeup, and then scrubbing it off at the end of the day.
Looking back I wish I had followed my parents advice, as some of the trends I followed were god awful! Hot pink lipstick! Tons of foundation and racing stripe blush. Ugh! Did anyone else heat up their eyeliner pencil with a lighter so it'd go on extra thick! and on the inside of the eye! I honestly think I used up my lifetime allotment of makeup and hairspray during my 4 years of highschool!
Anyone else a guidette or wannabe? who else had makeup and aqua net overload in the late 80s?

I think I began around High School. My dad was a stickler for makeup, he hated me wearing it (I'm the youngest). I wear very little even now

I was never interested in wearing makeup (still aren't ). When I was in Jr High & HS, my mother would FORCE me to wear 'a little eyeliner & lipstick' when we had occassions (wedding, graduation, etc)!!!!!

I think I started to experiment with makeup in 6th grade. And I use the word 'experiment' on purpose -- there are some truly ghastly photos of me wearing hideous NAVY BLUE Avon eyeshadow. What was I thinking?

I started in about 7th grade.. we were in Catholic school and it was NOT allowed, yet of course we were the rebelllious type

I can specifically remember being in the girls room and us all sharing the same eyeliner in particular How unsanitary!!

Why we bothered putting anything on is beyond me .. the nuns would take one look at us and send us straight back to the ladies room to wash it all off

I started in junior high, with a little lip gloss and clear mascara. My friend Allison was always introducing me to new stuff. My 8th grade graduation photo is awful - i'm in bright red lipstick, b/c it matched my outfit and my robe! I do NOT have the complexion for red lipstick!

My mom NEVER leaves the house without makeup, so she pretty much trained me to always wear it. By HS, I never went to school without makeup. The funny thing is that people often say to me, 'you dont' usually wear makeup, do you?', but I ALWAYS do!
