ok... I went to my cousins house this weekend and she thought it would be cool if we went to try on dresses for my wedding... well decided not to lie to my mom and tell her...(thinking there wouldn't be a problem) WELL.... NOW she's not talking to me! she got so upset that I went and saw something that I liked. I happened to mention that maybe we could go one weekend.... she totally cut me off and starting yelling that it was 'too far'. She didn't even let me finish my sentence! she started yelling that it was too far to go for alterations... blah blah.. I never said that I wanted the dress, I just wanted her to come look! AGH needless to say, I've been crying since then.. and to make matters worse, I still live at home.. I can't take it!!!!
any advice... (sorry it was so long but i needed to vent!)

Chippa! That's what I want my 'dance with dad' to be! (Side by Side.) We used to sing it in the car when we went fishing together...

Re: AGH... anyone else have this problem with 'MOM'
My mom has complained about -everything since day one. She was miserable when my sisters came with us to look at dresses she sat in a chair the whole night with a miserable look on her face the whole time. Its alright with me though, my Future mother-inl-aw more excited than my mom. So I just feed off of MIL's happiness. When your getting married you really only want positive engery around. So try to ignore the negative and keep all the positive!! Good Luck

Re: AGH... anyone else have this problem with 'MOM'
This is sad, I dont trust her with a job for the wedding. I've been asking her to do something for months that hasnt been done and its now FI and I doing it on our own. I dont trust her with a job for the wedding. It will end up screwed up, not what I want and FI and I doing it and getting fustrated about it.
So its best that she does nothing.

Re: AGH... anyone else have this problem with 'MOM'
yeah i hear you about not giving mom a job. I don't want my mom to have one either. She already passed a comment that she's going to be SO STRESSED in the months before the wedding that she's going to be on the phone all the time with my aunt... I was like hello!??! i'm the one that's going to be stressed... but her having a job in the planning process, might as well book my therapist for her now...
I'm just going with the flow.. letting things fall in place as they may... (which is SO hard for me).. and i'm going to handle everything when it arrises.. I want to have some fun in the engagement. (NWR) speaking of... FH bought us tix to see 'Movin' Out', the Billy Joel play on Broadway... EXCELLENT!!! definitely the BEST play i've ever seen!!! Just wanted to share!
any of you going to the gtg on the 20-something?

Re: AGH... anyone else have this problem with 'MOM'
My mothers priorities are all screwed up and she says that I am not the only one suffering and she then gives her selfish sob story. Her main concern is a living room set then my happiness.
So I just dont talk about anything with the wedding with her. It causes me less aggrivation and stress

Re: AGH... anyone else have this problem with 'MOM'
exactly my point chipp... don't mention anything and you don't have to worry about hearing the bs..
I don't bring anything up... much happier and 'sane' that way.

Re: AGH... anyone else have this problem with 'MOM'
OMG, I don't mean to totally butt in here but you have to add me to the nutty mother's club. I would KILL to have a mother that actually cared whether or not this wedding took place. My mother couldn't honestly care less about my wedding. I actually bought my dress without herseeing it because she was too lazy too go. It just wasn't important to her. FI and I have a joke that she will actually double book plans on the wedding and make plans to hang out with a friend on Sept 20, forgetting it's the wedding. She has numerous times inserted the f word adding ing before the word wedding to describe my wedding, thinks I'm too into it and won't bring it up unless I do first. I would kill to have her show a hair of interest. Not that a mother that butts heads too much and has too much opinion in the wedding is bad good, but G-d- what I wouldn't give to have someone in my family give a (you know what) about my big day!
