Ahhhhhhhhhh, is anyone nervous about having too many people?

Ahhhhhhhhhh, is anyone nervous about having too many people?

Our guest list got a bit out of hand and there's no cutting the list now that STDs have been sent. I hope hope hope for that 20-25% decline rate, and more on the 25% end. I know we'll definitely make our min of 100 since we're inviting 182 . I looked at the yes-no response thread, but I'm going to be worried until the last rsvp is in and I haven't even sent out my invites yet!

What brought this nervousness up? I called JT and there are no other available rooms to switch into in the event that too many people come!

what is the maximum for your room? We wanted like 150, right now our list is at 206 and is still growing!

We were freaking out, but we did end up getting the 20% decline rate. It will probably happen to you too. Don't worry!

my BM said 160 is the max. We can have 14 tables, and I would want no more than 11 per table, so that is 154. Hopefully we'll have less than that. A lot of people will be OOT so they may decline. But people can surprise you!

At the watermill I wanted the big room downstairs so I had to guarantee185 people. I have 206 people on my list and growing since we still have to figure out wh is coming from my fiance's job. He is in the FDNY. I am hoping at least 10% decline.

You may have remembered that I invited almost 390 people.

I haven't talked much about this on the board, but we invited MANY OOT guests who ended up declining the invite. Plus, a lot of people ended up responding without a date. So my final count is in the neighborhood of 277. I have no idea what that ratio is but I am so happy about it.

Moral of my story is that if you have OOT guests, your decline rate goes down below the 25%.

You have an awesome decline rate of 29%. I would kill for that!

I was in the same position. We invited 163 for a room that holds 150. Some of the no's we got were anticipated, but some are a surprise. Right now, we have 112 people - but there are maybe 15 people who haven't rsvp'd yet.

That's the rate I was hoping for! Thanks for doing the math. I'm great with words, not so great with numbers!

I want to say also, that I spent SO MUCH TIME worrying about this stupid list that when I realized that we were WAY under our min. - I was like... all the hours spent fighting, worrying, crying, freakin out FOR NOTHING.

This was two weeks ago and I have seriously not been the same since. All will work out the way it should be is my new motto....

yes, totally. Our list got out of hand, and just like you the STD's were sent out last June, I should have paid more attention to it then.
FH keeps telling me all these people on his side won't come - he'd better be right! Its not that we don't have the room- we don't have the money!! I don't know how we will pay for a lot more people than we origninally bugeted for!

Yes I can totally relate to your concerns.

I had 249 people on my guest list. We paid for people and we had 159 at our wedding. Don't go by statistics. Wedding attendance is not a science.

Re: Ahhhhhhhhhh, is anyone nervous about having too many people?

I worried soooo much...drove everyone crazy, called Mike at JT twice a week to vent...and it worked out fine. It always tends to.

I had a really high decline rate since most of my guests were from OOT and even though I sent out STD's and emails all the time (was engaged for almost 5 years ) a lot of people didn't make it.

So try not to worry!!

Also, I know you don't want to do more than 11 people per table, but I have to say that some of my tables had 12 guests (couldn't break up some families) and there was plenty of room!! These are oblong tables, not regular round ones, and 12 is a very comfortable number. Don't rule it out.

We are in the same boat-we are hoping that out of the 40 outstanding invites only half say yes. They say the yes's come first and the no's will come closer to the cutoff date (next week for us). We'll see...
