Air conditioners...window or space? Any ideas?

We need to go shopping for an air conditioner and I have no idea where to start. I have a small living room that is attached to my kitchen. I was thinking of getting one of those space a/c's that we can move around...our bedroom has the old fashioned jalocy (sp?) window so we cant put one in the window in there...so i was thinking if we bought a space one we could keep it in between the kitchen and living room during the day and move it to the bedroom at night. Does anyone have one of these? If so, what brand and do they really work?

I really screwed myself too cause with my 'wonderful' decorating abilities I covered up the only window in the living room with the entertainment center so I dont know even if we got an a/c with the remote (its hard to get back there) if it would cool off the room since the center is in front of the window....someone help?

The space ones are a WHOLE bunch more $$!!!!

Maybe you can rig something to blow the cool air up and over the entertainment center. Maybe you can buy one that cools more space and put it in your bedroom, leave the doors open during the day with the thing on high and turn it down to low with the doors closed at night.

When FH and I bought one last weekend from Home Depot, I saw the portable one was something like $500.

Can you move your entertainment center?

We just priced ACs for our apt (we have the wall units) and were quoted $375 & $450 for 10K and 12K BTUs.

PC Richards had a decent selection, and some were on sale. Not mine though!
