Air Sickness - What should I take???

Danielle and I are leaving for St Lucia 7am monday morning, and I get airsick. What should I take that will help me out the best?

I was thinking about taking the less drowsey Dramamine, but then someonne was telling me the bracelet works really well too and to use it with the Dramamine. Where do you buy the bracelet?

What do you recommend?
Thanks,
Scott

Bonine or buy the 'motion sickness' bracelets they have in some of the better drug stores. I used them on our little hopper flight from Fla to Bahamas & it worked great!

ETA: Bonine works a bit better than the dramamine, and you do not have to take it twice for that long of a flight...you would probably have to take a double dosage of dramamine for a 6 hour flight.

I got mine in Eckerds...I think the larger Walgreen's & CVS stores may have it as well.

YAYAY.... you guys are soooooooo close!

Yes the Bonine is good. I think you need to take it like an hour or 2 before you fly.

Good Luck and Congrats!!

BTY Let me know how it is, I'm going there on my HM.

I too was going to to suggest the bracelet, but I haven't tried it yet. I am getting one for my HM- I have a plane & a boat!

Fh says you can take dramamine right when you start to feel sick & it works pretty quickly, so you may want to bring it & just take it if the bracelet doesn't work for you.

Just be careful, if you have a drink on the plane & take dramamine- you will be be out cold.

Call your doc and see if he/she suggests the motion sickness patch for you. It looks like a small circular band aid it goes on your neck just behind you ear. I think it lasts all day and you don't drowsy as you would with Bonine or dramamine.

How about Ginger. I am reading up on it and I see that it is recommended over Dramamine or Bonine.

Anyone ever try it?

I think i am going to stay away from Ginger....Everything I have read recommends going to a doctor before u use Ginger pills because it has some serious side effects....and I know I can take Dramamine. Has anyone taken dramamine and had the bracelet on at the same time? A girl at work said she did that when she was younger.
Thanks,
Scott

I don't travel without Bonine. I've tried Dramamine and it completely knocks me off my feet and the patch that goes behind your ear. You need a prescription for that though.

Unfortunately I cannot take Bonine...I remember from a long time ago that I got some side effects that I dont want to experience ever again.

A fried said she takes Dramamine and the bracelets. I bought the bracelets at lunch time...and I will try this. Do you think it is bad to use both?

I've never done it, but I wouldn't think so. You could always take the braclet off if it bothered you.

GINGER! Take it with ginger ale too! I was on a cruise and the water was rough ,nothing worked not even the braclets, bonine, dramimme and the prescription patch. The only thing that worked was the ginger. i highly recommend it- and it does not interfere with anything else.
