Airlines question... is it true that

they charge now for all checked luggage? Last summer they only charged if you brought an extra suitcase. Now I'm hearing otherwise...

i was just on a plane this last week and they did not charge me for my luggage... i checked one suitcase and had a carry on

Yes, it's unfortunately true. Each airline is different with fees,etc so check with them directly.

I dont think SW charges and if you fly business class or first your luggage can fly free.

I think it depends on the airline but for most that is true.

not every airline.
Jetblue lets 1 bag on for free
Southwest lets 2 for free

JetBlue gives you one bag per person free and then you have to pay after that.

yep, it's unfortunately true

i just flew on American Airlines and it was $25 a bag

but mine was over 50 pounds so i had to pay $70. .. thank God for company reimbursements

Southwest gives you 2 checked bags free. Jetblue is one checked bag free.

it's actually not. i book trips for my boss on continental all the time and they don't charge you at the counter, they charge you when you book your ticket so you wouldn't know you were being charged if you didn't look at all the fees

it depends on the airlines. i know AA charges, but Jet blue allows 1 bad pp free.... they all have diff rules.

sorry to crash but just wanted to add that most airlines do not charge you for luggage at all if you are traveling internationally. Not sure if you were thinking of Caribbean, but since most islands are considered international travel, you won't be charged for luggage, at least that's been my experience.
