aisle runner???

I posted this on the 07 board, but I figured I would have better lucj here....

dumb question, but where does it start. does it start at the altar and then get rolled down to the door or does it start by the door and get rolled out towards the altar, or does it even matter??? I want to start my DIY monogram but I don't want to put it on the wrong end or upside down!

I am not sure if this is how its done- but this is what we did for my friend's wedding and it looked fine (pics in my album of her wedding)- we started at the altar and rolled down from there.
