Why is is a State Law that the Liquor Stores are closed on Sundays?

Actually, the new law is that they can be open on Sunday, but they have to close another day of the week.

I just learned this in bar review- It's called a Blue Law and it's purpose is to promote sanctity of the Sabbath.

I say do away with the sabbath thing is poop. Not everyone's sabbath is sunday anyway. So poop on that law

Back in the day, people observed Sunday as the Sabbath-a day of rest. (Jewish people observe on Saturday I believe).
The law is definitely outdated, and as mentioned they are doing away with it (sort of) by allowing the stores to be open on Sunday as long as they close on another day.

They are open on Sundays in FL
The new law is they are allowed to be open on Sundays but have to be closed at least one day during the week. Many liquor stores dont want to do that or take a chance that they may loose business so they just keep it as the way things are of being closed on Sundays. I have yet to see a Liquor store open on a Sunday since this law came into effect.

The store down the road from me is now opened on Sundays with the new law in place.
