Re: alexandra boutique-also introduction

I just got my BM dress for FSIL's wedding there and plan to have my girls order from there as well in a couple of weeks.

I just took it to the Dry Cleaner's down the block from my house to have it altered but they said that there is a alterations place around the block from the store. Not sure if that is Serena.

alexandra is great because they have so many dresses to try on!! but once you decide on THE BM DRESS...i would call around to price it out

i found the dress for $30+ less per person at a local bridal shop in brooklyn

Re: alexandra boutique-also introduction

you ladies have had good experiences there for BM dresses????
i went for a wedding gown and was completely turned off by them! There was a lady and gentleman behind the counter and I went in specifically to see if they had a certain dress available to try on (I was literally passing by and had no intention of trying it on and even told them if they had the dress id like to make an appt). The man said he cannot look it up for you, either I make an appt or not. I probably looked shocked and appalled and the lady then took the information and looked it up for me. turns out they did not have the dress and even though they have some gorgeous dresses around the store and in the windows I had no desire to go back there. i still wouldnt buy my wedding gown there but if they are more personable for BM dresses i would consider going to them. Do you ladies have someone you met with specifically that you would recommend?

well I will agree with you - that man is Mr. cranky pants. I can't remember the girl who we worked with (all I can remember was she was Asian) but when you go for BM dresses no one really helps you. You kinda just go in there and look around and then try on dresses. It's when it comes time to order and measure that you start to deal with someone.

But I asked for prices on certain dresses that were not in the store and they gave me the price with no problem.

I found that they had a AMAZING selection. I found the dress that I wanted there, and I called around to ask for prices... of the stores that I called, they had the best price by far. They were always very friendly when I was there.

HOWEVER.. when the dresses came in like a month ago...they got VERY VERY pushy with my girls about picking them up. The girls' receipts said they had 2 weeks from when the dresses came in, but they were telling us a week or the dresses were going to a storage facility or something. I fought it, and they gave in, but I was turned off by that.

this is true as well. They really want the dresses picked up as soon as possible once they are delivered. I didn't have an issue because I picked mine up within a few days after I got the call. I guess since so many people order dresses that they may not have the space to hold on to all of them in the store. If your girls pick up their dresses on time it shouldn't be an issue.

Re: alexandra boutique-also introduction

I just ordered my BM dresses from there as well. Half of my girls have been measured already and I was told it would take about 2 months for the dresses to come in.

And Jessie-- Mr. Cranky pants indeed. He asked one of my BM's if she was my mother...she's 31, I'm 27!!!!! To say the least, she was put off and didn't want to go back lol!!! The girl that works there that I've dealt with is wonderful (I think her name is Danielle). They have a great selection of BM dresses, and what I thought were great prices.

The only thing that made me sort of put off was that after I selected a BM dress, I had gone in a couple of days later to have two of my girls measured, and all of a sudden I was told that I couldn't do that dress because they didn't make 'extra length' and my sister is 5'10. But my sister was there the day we picked that dress and thay knew she was a BM, but yet no one told me that that designer didn't make extra length. So with the pressure on, I had to scrap a new idea for a BM dress, and just ended up taking my second choice. They do seem to have a good selection of bridal gowns as well..HTH
