Original post by Mrs. V 2008

Did any of you girls register for all-clad pots and pans? I just wanted to know whats the fuss over them...are they any better than other pots? Everyone raves about them...but i can't see anyone spending that kind of money on them..help!

Re: all clad???

My FH is a huge cook and that is all he will use. My cousin works at wiliiam sonoma so my aunt buys stuff for me there using his discount. We also buy some stuff at the outlet. WE totally feel like the pots are worth it. We did not register for the set but FH picks out the ones he likes. He is super picky

Re: all clad???

We registered for the 10 piece All-Clad, as my FMIL kept telling us we had to get it. I felt HORRIBLE registering for something that expensive, but our families keep saying that some people will go in together for a bigger gift, and to register for what we want. If we don't get them, we'll probably just buy a cheaper set.

I'll admit, it took a lot of convincing for me to zap that onto my registry!

We went with the All Clad... FH is the cook so it was his choice. hehehehehe.... We figure if we get them we get them, if by chance we dont. No big deal!

We did BB&B though cause you can use the 20% Discount.

Re: all clad???

I have some all clad. I really like the regular all clad, but I loath the non stick it is far too hard to care for.

We registered for Scan Pans and received the for our engagement party. They are FAB U LOUS!!

FYI on the all clad too, not Pam sprays, only olive oil or canola oil atomizers because pam leaves a build up over time in the pans no matter how well you clean them and it ruins the pan.

We reigstered for all-clad. It was FH choice -- he did the research and picked what he wanted. We have an old set of all-clad that he said I can learn on -- I am not allowed to touch the new ones

Re: all clad???

dont like them - too heavy for me....almost everything is too heavy for me & i do a lot of cooking so i need things that are lightweight that ill be able to cook with and wash....still not sure what we are going to register for when it comes to pots

Re: all clad???

I went to culinary school and all we used there was All Clad because it lasted so long. I work at Wiliams-Sonoma now and I've used all of the cookware we sell: All-Clad and Calphalon in the different finishes. All Clad lasts the longest. I went back and forth between those when i registered. I just found that All Clad looks way better after a few years of continued use. As far as other brands, what sets all-clad apart is that it is at least 3 ply so it holds heat better....plus you can put all of the cookware in the oven and the stainless can go under the broiler. It's expensive but worth the price in my opinion. I'm only registering once so I'm making sure I get what I will use but also what will last me for awhile.

has anyone heard if Emerilware is any good? the price difference is drastic so that scares me!

Emerilware is ok...compared to the regular stainless steel All Clad, Emerilware isn't the three ply so thats why its cheaper-base is sodered on. (its also made overseas where All clad is made in Pennsylvania).

Re: all clad???

we registered for all-clad frying pans and a 20qt pot. i have cooked with all clad, calaphon and a few 'celebrity-wares' and i think all clad is the best.

i'd stay away from celebrity pots b/c they arent made to last a long time.

thanks so much girls..now i just need to make a decision..calphalon or all clad? will someone actually spend the money on all clad?!?

Re: all clad???

People can always surprise you. If you want you can do a small set like a 7 piece set and then register for a few other pieces. Sometimes family members go in on that together. I think my bridesmaids have talked about getting my all clad for me. If someone doesn't buy it, we'll have gift cards and we can put money towards it.

u can put on a few individual pieces rather than the whole set if ure concerned about the price...but like someone else said...ppl might go in on a group gift etc.

that's what I registered for - if it weren't any good it would be damaging to the All Clad brand.
