Hang in there I'm only on day one and it's really hard but think of how worth it it will be to be healthy, not stink like smoke, have nice white teeth, be able to get thru your workouts without being extra winded from the smokes, etc. Hang in there!!!!

You can totally do it! You're strong and healthy and you want this bad enough to stick with it. Try some Halls with menthol. That worked really well for my dad when he quit.

Re: All Ex smokers...need your encouragement!!!
It's so amazing that you quit even for a few days--keep it up! I quit about four months ago, on September 15th for a variety of reasons (including the death of my future father in law). I had smoked for about 12 years. It was very hard (i was a huge ***** for a good solid month).
I used the patch for a few weeks--it definitely helped. Call 1800 NY quits. I used them and got free patches. They call to check up on you and it feels great to say you're smoke free.
I have to say that what keeps me going is thinking about what a waste the days, weeks, months of successful non-smoking would be. Like, even after three days, if I had picked up a cigarette, I would have to go through those three days again. It's just not worth it.
You can do it--it will continue to be tempting for a long time (I still LOVE the smell of cigarettes), but it will get easier.
Benefits: YOUR SKIN WILL LOOK SO MUCH BETTER! I get so many compliments on how much better my skin looks. You will also be able to work out harder b/c you will be able to breath better.
Good luck and FM me if you need motivation or have questions.

This might help:
Cigarettes are now what - $7 a pack?
at $7 a day for 365 days = $2,555. Wouldn't you like to have an extra $2,500?
One of the first things I noticed when I quit, was that I had all this money left over in my wallet at the end of the week - it's a nice fringe benefit.

If I can quit smoking anyone can. I was up to a pack a day and I quit 2 years ago (New Years Day) cold turkey and it's so hard but every day gets a little bit easier. And now I don't miss it at all and am so happy that I quit! You're going to feel so much healthier!

Re: All Ex smokers...need your encouragement!!!
I quit smoking over a year ago...cold turkey. The first few days are SO freakin hard. II tried to distract myself as much as possible. I excercised alot- I felt that was a healthy alternative. I tried to think about how easy it would get....I just had to 'get through it' and thought about everything I would buy with the money I saved! Try to stay away from 'triggers' like coffee, or going out w/ friends that smoke- those two made it really tempting for me!

Re: All Ex smokers...need your encouragement!!!
I cut and copied this from a non smoking web site:
Hundreds of people die every year because of smoking
One in two lifetime smokers WILL die because of it. Half of these deaths will be in their middle-ages
Smoking strains your heart and blood vessels because of the CO and Tobacco in it.
This causes heart attacks and cuts off oxygen flow to your feet and hands. Some smokers must have amputated limbs because of this.
Tar coats your lungs causes cancer. A 20-a-day smoker breathes in up to a full cup (210 g) of tar in a year.
Changing to low tar does no help because smokers take in deeper puffs
Smoking causes you brain, heart and mussels to work less effectively and makes them work harder
Smoking causes diseases such as multiple bronchitis which will cause a slow, painful death
Smokers are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non smokers
Heart disease and strokes are also more common among smokers than non-smokers.
Smoking causes fat deposits to narrow which causes heart attacks.
One in five heart disease related deaths are caused by smoking
In younger people, three out of four heart diseased related deaths are caused by smoking.
