Hello everyone! I am starting to look for ideas for a honeymoon just to get an idea of how much to start putting away. Has anyone been to or do you know anyone who has been to either Figi, Tahiti or somewhere like that? I am looking for an all inlcusive to save money. Any feedback would be appreciated I have looked into a place called Mavuru and a few others that seem really nice. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Try talking to a travel agent, like a Liberty Travel, which are all over the place...I went to one today and the person I worked with spent an hour and 15 minutes telling me about different all inclusives and price ranges--so you can get some ideas about places and price ranges from them and then either book through them or find those places online on your own. Good Luck!

we went to tahiti, moorea and bora bora. i'm not sure about any all-inclusive programs. i definitey know none of the hotels do this. they do have programs to include certain meals (but i wouldn't really recommend that). I know there's a cruise that goes there though, that might be all inclusive. I think it's Pricess something .. not exactly sure. I believe Karen32 went there on that cruise.

The only places I know of that are all inclusive are Jamaica, St Lucia, Bahamas and Antigua

I got this e-mail from a former colleague ... She went to Tahiti for $1500 a person. Even thought we live in LA, she always uses this woman - might be worth a shot...

Well, maybe it was cheaper because she flew from LA?? But that's what she told me and I know that this friend loves to travel in luxury. I am contacting the travel agent now and will put up a post when I hear back from her.
As from out of state, I am not sure - but I know my friend does it all the time.
Let me e-mail her now...

that's strange .. is it only for a couple days? the fact that she lives in LA should only affect the price by a couple hundred (cost of flight from NY to LA). definitely post whatever info you get.

I think there's a Club Med in Bora Bora, and there are some all-inclusives in Fiji (Turtle Island, perhaps?), but I don't know that they'd save you any money - I know that Turtle Island is supposed to be very expensive.
Re: Tahiti for $1500/pp, maybe they just stayed in Tahiti proper (rather than going to Bora Bora, Tahaa, etc.), which is a lot less expensive (but also much more developed) than the other islands.
ETA: We just came back from French Polynesia a few weeks ago - see my HM review on the review board.

We are going to Moorea and Bora Bora for 10 nights. They say there is not much to do on Tahiti, so we are not going to stay there at all. We are staying in a 4 star hotel, in Bora Bora- Deluxe Overwater and Moorea - Deluxe Beachfront. We are paying $8700.00 including flight and transfers, but no food. The meal plans, not all inclusive and were approx $3000.00 additional. We figured we could just do fruit in the AM, we don't eat lunch and dinner is approx $61.00 person per night, but there are also other options on this.

The only all-inclusive in French Polynesia that I saw was Club Med in Bora Bora. Also, you can do a cruise around the islands (we're considering this) so that would include at least your food. The Intercontinental Beachcomber Resort in Moorea has a meal package you can add on - check them out. My cousin stayed there on her honeymoon (overwater bungalow and everything) and said it was incredible.

Re: All Inclusive places in Figi, Tahiti, Etc.?
There are many resorts in Fiji that are all inclusive if you are willing to go off-island (meaning, not the mainland). Also, there are many that include all meals, but no alcohol. Pricepoints really vary -- there are many that advertise for about $1500 pp, and there are those that advertise for more like $10,000 pp. It's all about what you want, and what you are willing to spend.
Why would all inclusive be cheaper? It depends what you plan to do. I know they always pad them for huge bar bills so you have to drink a lot to make it worth it sometimes.
